Weird iDrive Reaction
Ok, so for the past few weeks I would be driving and all of sudden the driver seat function shows up on the iDrive as I'm adjusting the back of the seat which I'm not (this happened about 3-4 time in two weeks period). I noticed this happens when I'm using Google navigation on CarPlay. Yesterday this weird issue went up to a next level! As I'm using Google to navigate and listening to my music playing off a USB drive, all of sudden the music made a weird noise then it stopped playing, I look on the iDrive, it went black with a message saying no signal in red then the system rebooted and came back to normal. All of this in less than a minute.
What the hell happened? Any thoughts? Thanks |

Anyone with Apple CarPlay experiencing similar issues? I want to determine if the update I did to activate the CarPlay is the real issue!

For those who flashed their G11s with Apple CarPlay, please let me know if you are experiencing what I mentioned above or anything similar. Thanks

When I first got my '16, if I put my hand near the seat controls, the iDrive seat control screen would pop-up. Even if I didn't move a single seat control. I turned that feature "off" within iDrive, I think to stop it.
I flashed to Carplay recently and yes, I get the same reboot w/ the red "No Signal" message, very faint/hard to see. It has always rebooted and even has Waze map going to my designation still. I've seen it do this 2-3x in fairly rapid succession....and other times it goes days without doing it. I also, in Waze, see the Speed Limit/Current Speed in top right just off-screen. I think I can see my current speed but the speed limit is off the screen. The rest of the Waze map screen looks normal to me. Using my daughters iPhone 8 doesn't have this abnormality. I'm using an iPhone 7. |

So this confirms that the CarPlay flashing is the cause of the reboot and the seat control issue. For me the reboot happened only once until now! I'm using iPhone X. I wonder if things are going to get worse. I wonder if other members are experiencing the same issues...
If others are experiencing these issues, please share it. Thanks Quote:

I was a little concerned as the frequency of reboot kicked in soon after reflashing.
I think I had 3 in a row on one drive. But, knock on wood, I haven’t had it happen in close to two weeks or now. It reminded me of prior vehicle infotainment systems that would ask if you wanted to update now and reboot or not, but this one wasn’t asking, would just do it I’m more than happy with the CarPlay flash at this point. |

The iDrive screen rebooted twice within few minutes over the weekend as I was using Google maps WTF. I thought flashing the CarPlay is not suppose to interfere with the ECU firmware. I decided to dealt my iPhone and re-pair it without Apple CarPlay. It's been two days now, no rebooting or display of the seat function.
Can any of the members that flashed their 750 with CarPlay confirm if they are experiencing the same issue as well! Thanks Quote:

That’s really strange as I use Google maps everyday as well but now because of the reboot I’m not. It real sucks as I was looking forward to use Google maps as I rely heavily on it for traffic info. What’s even worse is that my iPhone X stops to charger on the wireless charger when CarPlay is activated. Now because it’s not activated the phone chargers normally.

Second possibility is your idrive software was not compatible with the flash, since it may be early '16. You could always try to have the whole system reflashed at a dealer and then start all over. I am thinking that maybe your version of iDrive software had a anomaly -- or maybe the carplay flash only works properly with a car software later than what you have. Third possibility is Canada cars have software that is not compatible with the CP flash, in which case you may be out of luck unless the vendor can provide a suitable flash file.

Before I flashed the CarPlay, the dealer updated the firmware on my car to the latest release and I checked with the guy that sold me the software for compatibility issues which he said there were none! I did contact the vendor, he said that no one has ever complained about these issues before! Not sure what to do, it’s bazaar what I’m experiencing...
