What do you use to clean the Nappa Leather?

What product the members use to maintain and clean the leather of the 750i. I want to keep the original black color (which looks more greyish) and don't want any shine.

In the past I used Meguiar's cleaner and conditioner wipes but the challenge with these wipes, is they turn the color of the leather to deep black and give it a shine which I don't wont! Thanks

I've tried MANY leather cleaners and conditioners over the years. By far, the best thing that I always return to for a non shiny look, and the best leather smell in any product, is Zaino's Z9 and Z10 products.

A good leather cleaner (Swissvax/Zymol etc...) a clean soft leather brush, a warm damp micro fibre towel and a clean dry micro fibre towel.

Apply the cleaner work into the leather surface with the brush, remove excess with the damp cloth and buff dry with the other cloth.

Once every 6 months should be more than enough.

I had my Ivory interior coated with Gteckniq L1 leather sealant from new, so just need to dust occasionally. Not shiny at all and no colour transfer at all - really pleased. You can apply to clean leather, thus making it easy next time around.

To get the smell I use the odd Liquid Leather impregnated hanger, that I put under the front seat - works a treat.

I am always wary of too aggressive a cleaner, as my first Jag had a colour repair on the passenger seat that I did not know about and had not been sealed correctly, hence all the colour came off and had to have the area repaired.

Leatherique on all my leather, Nappa, Merino and even when I had cars with Dakota. Works very well. Its a reverse technique to apply, you put the conditioner on first then the cleaner. It also takes some time and heat to soak in.

Thanks for everyone's feedback! I read little more about Zaino Z10, it sounds like some members on other forums have had a bad experience with Z10, claiming that it turned their leather hard and the smell was not so friendly. I will look into Leatherique and try to research it before I buy the product.

That's odd - I've used Zaino on all my vehicles especially the M5 and when I sold it at 40k miles, it was soft, crack/crease free, and smelled amazing. I do hear some people do not like the smell but never heard anything about the leather being hard. My personal experience has been amazing and I would recommend Zaino over any other brand. Leatherique is great too.

+1 on Zaino leather products...weird to hear that people don't like the smell as it's amazing! Lol. I also use leatherique but only once a year for heavy cleaning and conditioning.

I use LEXOL products on my home leather furniture and car leather for years. The Best... Period.

I've definitely never had hard leather with Z10, and the smell has got more compliments than any other leather conditioner or air freshener I've tried. I do however wish that they would sell it in a much larger bottle. I read that some people claimed Duragloss leather conditioner worked and smelled like Z10, so I bought a 32oz bottle of it. Tried it once, realized it didn't work or smell ANYTHING like Z10, and I actually just threw the whole thing in the trash. Griots Garage conditioner (lotion) and rejuvenator (thick Vaseline type texture) also work good and smell pretty good like leather, but doesn't smell as good a Z10.

I would NEVER use anything that adds gloss or shine to leather. Especially in my car. I don't want to feel it or get on my clothes!

For me, I use Auto Finesse's leather conditioner / balm products.

Used BMW's own product before (I think it was made by Sonax) and Gliptone on a previous car but could not stand the smell!

WOW! That looks really good, especially the second picture as it does not have any shine...

I will purchase a bottle of Z10 and give it a try. Thanks again for all of the feedback.

Well the first picture is with Leatherique applied and soaking in, not what it looks like normally.

But if you do it right it looks perfectly matte when done.

The biggest difference is the steering wheel, it looks brand new, perfectly matte like it was never driven.

Nothing will beat Leatherique, once the cleaning is completed the leather will have a full Matt / factory finish. Leatherique is one reason why I always will get full leather interiors. I have used this on Audi Exclusive, Aston, RR and BMW individual leathers.
