Going from 2016 740i M to 15 M4 vert.

I'm just not thrilled with the 7. Nice car but boring. I honestly enjoyed my 2010 w221 better. Am I crazy for making this switch?

That is quite a switch. If you wanted a tossable quick car, sure the M4 is for you, but you are coming from a 7 and a S class. Neither is small or tossable and if you enjoyed the S class more than the 7, I doubt it was because the S class handled better (based on my experience at least). I do not think the 7, properly configured, is "boring." It may not be as exciting as a M4 open air, but I do not find good handling, quiet, and creature comfort to be boring.

I suspect from your prior two cars, that if you go to a M4, you will be back on the forum within a year asking about some other switch. But hey, its your money and do what makes you smile. Life is too short.

I too found the 740i to be a boring vehicle hence why I went 750i. Having had M4, M5s and several American muscle cars. I think the 750i is far from boring but just depends on what excites you.

Have you looked at an F10 M5. Somewhere in the middle? I loved mine. Would defiantly consider another one especially at the current prices for a CPO.

I love the F10 M5....just worried about the reliability. This usually gets me thru when I want that raw power!

I answered a question about this on another thread. I like my 750i, but i was driving my E38 the other day and realized how much more I liked driving it (even though the power is down), its just more connected. Then I got into my M3 and I realize how much that makes me just smile.

If I had just one car I dont think it would be the G12, great car, just doesnt have the same soul as some of the other ones.

I think you will like the M4 and convertibles are fun. But, the ride and the tech will be no where near your 7, so it depends on what you want.
