Tuning

Has anyone tuned their G11/12 750i?
Is it detectable it flashed over OBD?

Just picked up my G12 750i. Thinking of tuning.

Remap is detectable.

I have tuned my car (remap) at Mosselman in Holland. Further info in my thread.

Mosselman claims that their itronic is undetectable.

Have a look, DIY remote OBD flash with laptop. https://www.g-power.com/leistungsste...ukte_99999.php.

Flash in 3 minutes, flash back to stock in 3 minutes also. All done by yourself, I've found this option very convenient

I have the same options here in the US. Was curious if it's detected, I'm sure if BMW wanted to dig into the data they could see the changes outside of stock parameters.

Too bad it's in German, I don't speak it. My wife does but I can't have her translate or else she'd find out what I'm doing to the car lol. After my last vehicles I told her this one is staying stock. Uh huh

Hi

Page is in English too (little globe button, top right of the page).

You can easily toggle back to the stock firmware with the app, the firmware change cannot be detected per se.

BUT in most BMW's since 2009 starting I believe with the 335i N54 engine BMW introduced 2 things, an encrypted DME (called "anti-tuning") & a Read only memory portion (FASTA data) where certain values are recorded like a "black box" among others boost over max limit, torque above max limit, speed above max stock limit, etc...supposedly with this data BMW HQ can presume that a non-stock firmware is present in the DME allowing the max stock values to be exceeded, but then again, they have to prove that the firmware is present in the DME...

No dealer that I know of downloads FASTA data & AFAIK only when there's an exceptionally rare case, BMW HQ requests the dealer to download this data from the customer's vehicle to be sent to them in raw format to be decoded and analyzed by engineers.

If you do things right you should not have much to worry about.
