Automotive trends that need to stop!

Perhaps this might be the 109th time you've heard this but what automotive trend needs to stop immediately?

Here are my top 10

1. Fake exhaust bumper fascia
2. Grille illumination
3. Sticking an iPad in the center console as an instrument panel (this means you Tesla) or a view screen that sticks out in the middle of the dash.
4. Gloss black everything
5. Fake wood
6. Big UGLY grille (I'm looking at you G22)
7. Fake vent (ahem...Supra)
8. Auto Start/Stop
9. Rolling coal
10. In car subscriptions. Onstar, Wi-FI, Satellite radio, etc.

11. Phytonic, Gentian and similar blue hues
12. Throwback “flat” colors in the grey (cement, putty, chalk) and tan/sand palette
13. Fake exhaust tips (added for emphasis to first entry)
14. Redundant always-on turn signals combined with swooshing Euro-style turn signals. Audi I’m talking to you. US market problem.
15. Fake engine noise through audio system. Mercedes I’m talking to you.

16: Slammed till the frame scrapes
17: Cambered out tired (riding on sidewalls).
18: Stretched tires to the point the sidewall has a gap to the edge of the rim.

(3) non-proliferation of manual transmissions
(4) proliferation of turbo 4-bangers
(5) M-series SUVs
(6) Black interiors only trim color on lower level trims
(7) Stupid, complex plastic coolant hose connectors. Just use effing hose clamps for Christ's sake

- Headlight turning off when turn indicator is on
- Door panel elbow/arm rest not in same height as center console elbow/arm rest
- Lack of volume turn knob
- Constantly illuminated various lights on the instrument cluster

Auto journalists have always viewed the 0-60 as the end all, be all performance measure regarding a vehicle's speed. I rank it behind:

1) trap speed through the 1/4
2) 60-130 or thereabouts
3) 1/4 ET
4) 0-100 (this should replace 0-60 altogether due to today's crazy fast cars)
5) 5-60

0-60 is just too dependent on traction (awd) and transmissions.

As an aussie the US obsession with 0-60 always staggers me. Utterly useless unless hitting the drag track. 30 to 80 way more real.

My SQ5 has that weird exhaust tip built in the bumper with the actual exhaust tip pointing down away from it...ridiculous

Manufacturers realized they cant produce a decent exhaust tone with turbo cars so they gave us burbles instead. Terrible fad.

Agree. The HP numbers are out of control on cars esp on cars where the driver actually doesnt care.

Even if you are into straight line speed, 0-60 is such a terrible indicator for todays HP levels. Too short a distance and highly dependent on launch.

Black Gloss everything. THIS omg it looks like total garbage after only a year in our SUV, which we take offroading, roadtripping, etc. Please, why make all the contact surfaces smudge prone, scratch highlighting, dust magnets?!?!
