Isn't that crazy? How there are people saying "I hate it" and people saying "I love it"? Like, isn't that almost exactly how humans are? Different from each other? Think about how crazy this is: Not everybody has the same opinion. It's mind-blowing really.

By far the worst of the recent designs to come out. X7 LCI looked bad but this takes the cake. I see where they're connecting the dots in queues to the X7 LCI but it's not going in a good direction. Lots of tech which is cool but how far does that go if you can't even stand to look at it. Utterly atrocious.

LOL - all the crying on here.

And in the end, 99% of current 7-Series owners are going to buy it.

Ooof looks even worse with the illuminated grill surround. So disjointed. Never been a fan of separated headlights.

Because a lot of guys here are not BMW enthusiasts, they are BMW badge enthusiasts. They'll bend over backward to justify any and every decision coming out of Munich, even if the brand has nothing in common with the its former self from just 12-13 years ago.

I swear some of these guys think they are brand spokesmen, or get a hard on from taking on the contrarian hipster viewpoint. I have a friend like this who blindly shills for Lexus as if he's on the company's payroll, very irritating.

But why so bitter? This ain't good for cardio-vascular health. So much anger put into generalizing and discrediting *everybody* that say they like it. Maybe some people just do? Or maybe you're the BMW god and your viewpoint of what the brand has to be and has not to be matters more. Is it really this hard to believe that some people *just* like the way it looks? Or maybe it's time for you to move on from BMW... or maybe you have already... but then why so passionately fighting opinions on a BMW forum?

Not a fan so far…but I'd have to see it before forming an opinion, I mean, a couple of years ago we were ALL criticizing the look of the G8x M3's & M4's and now, no one can get their hands on one even if they offer to bribe their SA's! 😂
So…I'll wait to see it before saying I really don't like it (already had to take it back with the G8x)!

I've made multiple posts here about what I like and dislike about this 7-series. I can be critical and appreciative of the same time. I do the same for any other car, except maybe the Porsche 911 since it's so perfect.

I've been a BMW fan in some capacity since I was in my teens, my parents have had many and there's a G05 in their garage at the moment. I still prefer them over other mainstream luxury brands. The M2 highly interests me as the F87 was great to drive, so that or the G87 M2 is the top choice for my next car.

Thank you for the detail. I gathered from the rep score you're one of the big guys here. I still say though that there is A LOT of emotions for and against the new design. And I think that is exactly what BMW intended - polarization! I also truly believe that some people (including myself) *just* like it. FYI - my background is very similar to yours with 35+ years of BMW history throughout the models and lines and race tracks et cetera.

Someone else said it and I think the term fully captures the design: Overwrought.

I have had nothing but wonderful experiences in owning many different BMWs and actually have had great dealership and service experiences. I want nothing more than BMW design to be amazing so that I can continue to buy more BMWs but this is simply overwrought design. Its too much. Angles and lines and curves for what reason? Yes, many people usually come around to liking BMW's design once they see them in the flesh so I will reserve total judgement until then, but why can't a new BMW design come out that is immediately applauded.

I really hate to say it but look at the new Range Rover. The design is clean, fresh and modern. There is little to no discussion of whether one side likes it and the other doesn't. Mostly everyone loves it.

Loll not a big guy, just a guy who knowingly spends more of my free time here than I should. BMW is doing exactly that, the "there's no such thing as bad press" philosophy. Everybody has been talking about their cars the past several years, it's free marketing.

BMW design doesn't excite people anymore. The vertically divided head lamps and the massive grills are really hideous. The proportion is also off. What's left is just bling-bling interior lights and displays.

This car is ugly to the pt that I've literally been reflecting on just how ugly it is, for the last several hours.

I'm going to go ahead and say this car is significantly uglier than the e65 Bangle 7, when it first released.

I'm almost fascinated by the fact that people can actually get on board with this design.

Point is that the new 7 is such a fat porker. Would probably be best to be chauffeured around in this car. The next porker to drop will be the XM cruise ship.

Edit: I would hate to be chauffeur with the weight of this car if I had to escape an emergency situation. For the fun of it during my last ED I did this 2 day course training in the previous 7 series, the track was interesting: https://www.bmw-drivingexperience.co...-training.html

The problem isn't a big grill, It's the way it's executed. Every car company is making big grills, with bmw having the worst implementation of the trend, which is progressively getting worse from generation to generation. The E38 was gorgeous, it's been downhill since then.

Case in point :
I love that E38.. I would trade any new BMW for that.
