G12 Auxiliary battery replacement

Just wondering if anyone knows of a place to get cheap auxiliary batteries for my G12. Dealer wants $1500 plus labor ($2100 total)

A quick Google shows the battery should be $250 - $388 + labor. I cannot imagine how the dealer came up with $1500 + labor and $600 in labor is 4-6 hours depending on their rate.

Are you sure that's what the repair entails, and not, for example, alternator as well? If the battery failed, for example, because the alternator was faulty, then they'd suggest replacing both battery and alternator/regulator.

If it is just the battery, you need to find a new dealer, or ask them to show you why it is $2100.

This is the auxiliary lithium ion battery that powers the media and dashboard I guess. This is not the standard AGM sealed battery.

I gather you are out of warranty? You say "I guess" but what does the dealer's service report say? By any chance do you have a hybrid? The Li batteries for that could cost $1500.

My car is under warranty till 2022. However, I bought my car pre-owned and someone switched out the auxiliary battery for an aftermarket Duralast which apparently is not compatible. Dealer said they won't cover it.

But after some research, I found out my 04/2018 build did not come with a lithium battery and instead an AGM battery. Not sure why the dealer didn't pick this up.

So I got a call in tomorrow with the service advisor and will let him know this. I'd rather spend $200 (according to their website) for an AGM battery than a lithium battery at $1500.

And this is for the auxiliary battery that connects to the iDrive and displays, apparently G12s built after 7/2018 came with lithium ion batteries.
