Abnormal noise
I just purchase BMW 7 Series 730Ld G12 2015 (new shape), in the morning when I start the engine I hear abnormal noise.
Please can anyone advise the noise from the car is normal in the cold engine? If the noise is abnormal then what could be the problem? Here is the video: The car is under warranty. |

It shouldn’t make that noise .Sounds like a belt rubbing off something . Have the popped the hood and had a listen to see if you can determine source of noise? I would get it back to the dealer you bought it from promptly if it was mine.

My initial reaction was it might be a loose heat shield or something like that perhaps? Could be a belt too, but yes - if you've just bought it then make use of your warranty - should be something pretty simple.

I am surprised how this car passed BMW approved used car standard with this noise. I've emailed the dealer, waiting for this response.

I finally manage to show the dealer the noise car generates randomly, they advised that exhaust make this noise when the car self cleans the diesel particles. The noise stopped once the cleaning process is done.

I’m still not convinced , I have had plenty of diesels and they never made a sound like that. Given the price of a 7 series I’m not convinced that sound is normal . If it was mine , I would get a second opinion whilst it’s under warranty , maybe if you have a local specialist nearby. Better safe than sorry that’s my motto. I have been burnt a few times in the past .
