2011 Alpina B7 US pricing and options?
I've been considering moving to a Porsche Panamera, but think that I should also be considering the B7 (more horsepower, more exclusive, probably not as good driving dynamics). But, there's no pricing or option information on BMW's US web site. Does anyone know where I could find it?

Been a while since I was over here, but I actually saw a B7 on the road today and I'm beginning to get the Alpina Bug again.
The pricing info on the B7 is tricky because it includes so much optional equipment. Leave it to BusinessWeek to point out what a screaming bargain is the B7. http://www.businessweek.com/print/li...061_968848.htm Quote:
So for $26,000, you get all the yummy custom Alpina parts, 100 more horsepower, 21 inch wheels and one of the most exclusive cars in the U.S. Remind me again why I took my name off the B7 list? |

Maybe because you asked your BMW dealer about resale value and he told you that BMW figures, at the end of a 36 month lease, the residual value will be only 44%, considerably less than a 750 (which is bad enough).

Yeah, there is that. Of course, the depreciation on the AMG Mercedes line is similiar. I'm trying to think of any performance car that really holds its value in that price range and I'm only coming up with Porsche. Still too early to know how the Panamera will do though.

You're right about the performance cars, especially the big sedans, I just think it's very telling that there is so much difference between the B7 and the 750. Theoretically, the B7 resale should be much stronger. But, it isn't with the 07's and 08's and it appears that won't change with the '11's (darn it!). |
