g12 key

I've heard that apparently the bmw g12 key stops giving off a signal after it has been put down for 30 seconds to prevent keyless theft. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

I've not heard this and unless it had some alternate software and an accelerometer inside (or some other method to determine it had been put down) I'd be surprised.

The display key may have this function (but I've never heard of it). The standard key unlikely.

There is anecdotal evidence here of a 2min shut down. But I haven't seen anything official.

interesting... I might have to check it myself but I doubt it'll work for both keys, maybe the display key

I think that's a feature associated with ID7 on some newer models, such as Z4, G20, etc. I don't think ID6 has that functionality.
