1-0 agains Satellites. Freaking Satellites!!
Great chart. Funny how there’s not one MiG with a winning record the only winning Soviet is a Sukhoi and barely at that.
There is a great documentary on the satellite kill, kinetic energy missile which surprised the hell out of me. Thought for sure it would be a proximity. Thats how good we are, killed with a direct hit. forgot the title, check it out. I’ll try to get you the title.

Got it . Wrong one but still very cool.

It's really amazing!
The other statistic on the Eagle that is surprising is the kills that the Israeli Air Force has. Pretty damn impressive and they aren't constrained by any doctrinal considerations. "We only have access to the C variant, no problem...we're still using them for ground support and attack. Cheers"

I’m pretty sure the Israeli pilots are second behind us in training and cockpit hours. Those guys are real good and the fact that they’re flying American sure doesn’t hurt. That doc on the bombing of the Iraqi power plant is classic also. Funny also, they were really smart, waited till about the last brick was in place and POW!

Oh, thats too bad, what a shame.
So now it’s 11-0. USA Super Carriers(CVN) to Russian zero carriers. Not counting all our rotary wing, Harrier carriers.

More likely Russia is hiring French shipyard workers. The Norwegian Epic had at least three arson fires by shipyard workers in France during its construction, and I believe that all of their subsequent ships have been built in Germany.....

Looks like they're flying the F18 hornet rather than the raptor in Top Gun Maverick. Maybe it's for nostalgia but would like to see the newer fighter even if he's just training pilots. His girlfriend is well preserved for her age like Tom Cruise unlike the original actress who has not held up as well.

Of course he is. Maverick is in the Navy, not the Airforce.

A more apt comparison would be the Mig or SU 27 and its derivatives vs a F15 or F/A 18.
And sometimes a total rebuild (or destroyed themselves) if they wanted to hit their top performance. Such as the when the Foxbats went Mach 3.

They're not flying the F 14 because they've all been destroyed, so they won't let parts fall into a Iranian hands.

Don't they have the joint strike fighter or is that still being delayed and over budget?

Not sure about the real intention of the thread since the F22 is a much more modern design vs. the Mig29. A more fair comparison would be to pit the F22 against the Pak FA, both being classified as Gen 5 fighters. The Pak FA would give the F22 some real run for the money ... it probably comes down the who put down the power better ... eeeeerrrrr I meant it comes down the fighter lols.

Anyway, the Pak FA has 3-D vector nozzle, whereas the F22 only has 2-D vector nozzle. The consensus is the Pak Fa will be better at low speed maneuver, but the F22 will have better high speed maneuver. It's interesting that the US philosophy is they believe in high speed maneuver, whereas the Soviet believes more in low speed maneuver.

Which is better? The low speed maneuver probably looks good in air shows. Most dog fight will be determined in the advantage in speed.

Yes, the USN has the F-35C variant. I'm not sure how many have been introduced into service yet or how successful they are. There's a lot of fake news about this aircraft but it is likely to be very, very good once fully operational.

From a Hollywood / Top Gun perspective, it's really not a dogfighter and Beyond Visual Range engagements (which it is designed for) as well as air to surface missions don't make for such a visually spectacular movie storyline.

Plus it's no supermodel in the looks department. The Tomcat takes a lot of beating in that regard. The Super Hornet doesn't fare too badly (but noting I am from Australia, I am biased).
