2016-2020 750i Engine Clarification

Does the G11 use the same troublesome engine as previous gen and in the F10, the N63/N63TU? And are there been any documented issues or is this design much better than the early N63 days? Looking at some 2016 750i with around 50k...The depreciation is worse than I thought lol.
Thank you.

From what I read a lot of people had issues with their n63 engines I believe 2010-2012 there was a recall or what they like to call a campaign !! knock on wood I've owned two different n63t engines one in my13 f02 and in my15 f02 no problems out of either of them only issue was they needed a quart of oil every thousand miles or so but that was it still have my15 f02 and a my18 g12 which has the N63R engine doesn't burn a drop so far knock on wood once again !! Not exactly sure of the differences between the T and the R but will say that my G12 is a heck or a lot quicker off the line than my f02 !!

Well given the G11 has been on the roads for nearly 4 years and no major engine complaints (from what I see) is good. The thing is
before the 740i was a great choice in the last gen as late models had the N55 as the n63 had problems. This gen, I would prefer not to settle for the 740 if the 750 has improved. I would still get a warranty, but like to avoid the 750 if it becomes anything like in the past (major recalls, rapid depreciation due to engine issues, etc)

Haven't had any issues with my g12 at all but like u noted the depreciation is crazy mine booked at 110k off the show room floor now I believe in the last year and change they dropped like crazy I've seen them range from mid 60k-90k depending on obvious things options and mileage but the thing is most people at least where I am on the east coast don't buy these cars they lease them !! And that's one of the reasons for the depreciating value cause every three years the market gets flooded with them like now u find 2016's all over the place dirt cheap I actually for shits and giggles looked at one at my local dealership over the weekend they a 16 fully loaded with about 50k on it clean I mean clean not even a single rock chip and that's unbelievable for the east cost our roads are horrible here they were at 39k for it only thing it wasn't a cpo if I was ready for a divorce I would have picked it up !!!

Yup the value drops like crazy and I thought the S class was bad. A 2017 540i and 2016 740/750 are similar in price...Just goes to show the rapid decrease in the 7 series alone. It is a good but IF you know what you're doing, and of course plan on getting a good warranty. My main concern is just the engine and how it fares from previous generations of BMW V8.

The G11/12 750 is different than the F10 version which was the N63, In 2016 the 750 had an N63TU2 which is updated.

The 2020 facelifted version has the N63TU3.

I wouldnt touch the original N63, personally I wouldnt touch anything before the TU2, although I have heard the N63TU is ok.

Long story short you should be find in and G series 750.

I agree with last post. N63 = stay away. The current engine is three generations past that. Nevertheless, there are so many complicated computers in these cars (whether 740 or 750) that post warranty repairs would be expensive and some coverage therefore desirable.

Cool, I assumed the same. I was confused on what came after N63TU. Thanks for clarifying.

Below is some data that includes info about the n63 engine recall, n63 engine iterations, and some engine spec info that shows some of the differences between the engine updates:
