Tail light chrome trim

Hi all, I’m new to the 7-series world after many years in various 5’s.
I recently bought a pre-owned 2018 740i. I know that it had a minor accident and some body work needed to be done but I’m not exactly sure what. My question is about the look of the tail light assembly. There’s a piece of chrome trim that runs across from side to side above the license plate. I thought it was supposed to go into the light assembly beyond the edge of the trunk lid.
The thing is, on the passenger side of my car the chrome strip carries through, on the drivers side there’s no chrome.
Any thoughts, guys?

It’s probably been taken off due to the accident or something but yes every g11/g12 7 series should have them on both sides. It should be fairly easy to replace, it should just pop back in, I think.

You’re probably looking for #3 in the diagram and part number index at the link and in the pic below. There’s a specific 11 digit part number for the left & right rear tail light...and if ordering, make sure you order the one that’s correct for how your 7 series is optioned. There’s also two different left/right part nbrs for #3 if you have the luxury pkg (P7GYA):
