Had it with run flats for this car.
My 2016 came with Bridgestone 20" run flats when I bought it used with 28000 miles. Within 3 months I had two flats. Decided to replace these tires with pirelli RF's early because of the problems. 6 months later I have had two sidewalls blow out on the Pirelli's. The car never hit anything that would have hurt a RF tire on my Corvette. Learned my lesson with the RF's approved and sold by my BMW dealer. I am going to Continental or Michelin non RF's this week. I have run the Michelin RF's on my last two Corvettes over the same roads and not had a single sidewall problem with them. Nuf said

Tell me about it. Pirelli is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with on the customer service side. We've had 2 sidewall blowouts and 1 instance where the whole tire shredded just doing basic city driving. These tires supposedly come with warranties that cover such occurrences, but I spent over a year going back and forth with Pirelli reps and still haven't received a dime.

I really want to replace my RF tyres with non-RF (Michelin ps4), but I’m worried about getting a flat, and always needing a tow truck. There is no space under the trunk for a spare (even a budget space saver size). What have all you guys who have made the switch from RFs done as a backup?
Also, did you change the tyres to the exact same size as the stock RFs? I did this on my Mercedes E250 convertible (it came standard with a spare tyre in the trunk - WHY BMW??). But when I put the same air pressure in the non-RFs, they tyre look very low/flat. I also tried pumping them up almost to their maximum (45 PSI), and they still buldge out the side and look flat. It’s weird. |

I have the BMW Tire flat kit that fits in the left emergency kit compartment. I also picked up a tire plug. I use this plug first before the bmw flat kit sealer. I've used the plug a few times over the years, has saved my ass. Slime 1034-A Automotive Accessories https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ET525K..._QpnhFbC27SFX3

Thanks for the info. That sounds much cheaper than buying a full spare tyre kit, and also take up much less room in the trunk. What would you use to remove a screw or nail from the tyre in order to use the plugs? You also carry pliers and other tools?

Google/Amazon tire plug kit and find the one with the tools. The one I had came with a complete tool kit (need nose pliers) and few other things to help remove the nail, plug it, and cut it down.

I had RT for 3 month and had HUGE bubbles on each side of my front wheels.
Went to DWS06 and never looked back. So much quieter and smoother with non RF

I’m looking at doing the same. Can you upload a photo? I’m keen to see how low they sit compared to the run flats. Also, what pressures are you using?

I've just had all 4 corners shod with Pirelli PZ4 Luxury Saloon RFT (I never knew they existed until I was ringing round). The difference with them over normal Pirelli RFT is they are designed for the 7 series and other luxury saloons.
They are (*) marked for BMW and they are 4db quieter than normal PZero (69db vs 73db). I had Bridgestone RFT on previously but these are waaaaay quieter over the last couple of hundred miles I've done on them. I was going to go Michelin PS4S but decided against it for now as didn't want a can of tyre foam rattling around the boot. |

Not sure about tire sizes for your cars, but I switched to Michelin PS3ZP runflats on my M550 and love themn. They are quiet, smooth, grippy, and I have had no more sidewall problems.
