2016 BMW 750i with Accident on Carfax
Just looking to get opinions on the matter,
Im looking to buy a 2016 750i with 50,000km on it and the price on it was 10,000$ below market price. Turns out it was in a front end collision right when it was purchased and the repairs were done at BMW and cost 45,000$. This was when the car was pretty much brand new in 2016. I was considering buying it after getting a proper inspection done. Any suggestions on this matter? would you buy it or recommend staying away? I was unfortunately unable to get more details on the collision and do not know the extent of the damage, i just know what it cost to repair and that the collision was on the front end. Thanks |

Risky. Go in with your eyes open. Personally, I would never consider a car with any sort of frame damage, regardless of quality of repair. Just not worth it for any compromises in case of a collision.

First, of course an inspection. But $45,000 of repairs is awfully concerning. It is $10,000 below market value but you'd be taking on real risk. Are you a gambler?

I would not buy it as a pure gamble haha, its not really an investment as im not looking to resell but i dont want it to be a pain in the ass right after i get it. It only has 50k KM on it.
Ive never bought a car with previous damage history which is why im looking to get opinions on this. I was looking to trade in the F10 550i and get this 750i as I already have a G30 M550i. Ive never owned a 7 series and was just skeptical with the damage cost, not sure if it was so expensive because the car was brand new or if a 7 series generally is just more expensive. I am getting a proper inspection done on Wednesday morning with my local bmw shop that i take all my vehicles to. |

My BMW certified repair guy says he can build/repair anything back to OEM standards.
That said, $45k is a ton of damage. If you go for it, just remember you’ll keep it for a long time. Will be hard to flip. |

While the car may be perfectly fine, I would personally not be comfortable with it. I would always be wondering when something might blow up because of the wear on things an inspector can’t see.

Don't buy it, these cars can be trouble at times without being in an accident. Image if the car was in an accident. I wouldn't buy it...
