Keyless Entry not Working/Missing Remote Problem on 2017 750i
My car doesn’t unlock when I grab a car handle and the dash says missing remote although the car starts when I hit the start button. I have taken it to the dealer twice and they have replaced the key fob batteries and a sensor but the problem still exists.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? Thanks! |

I have had the problem and solved it with a second battery replacement. I figured what do I have to lose to try new batteries? (maybe the replacements were no good). The key batteries are very easy to replace (size 2032).
The fact that they replaced a sensor for you may mean something else is going on, but try new batteries again. Sometimes the replacements have been sitting around and have lost strength.

I have done the same (swapped batteries again).
My quirky locking issues were solved by switching between the two keys, as one key seems to work much better than the other. 🤷🏼 |

Thanks! I will give it a try. I originally replaced my batteries in the keys with Duracell’s but my dealer said to just use the BMW brand which he swapped out for me. The dealer thinks it may be bad remotes although I find that hard to believe that both remotes would go at the same time.

Just a quick update, my car has been in the shop for about 8 weeks now and my dealer says they have replaced all of the hardware, new key fobs, new sensors, and the wireless transmitter. BMW is telling them that something is interfering with the signal so they are running tests to see what might be interfering with the signal. Luckily the car is still under the CPO warranty, otherwise I’m sure this would be very expensive.

Yeah, BMW doesn't make those batteries. Any 2032 should work. I've used Amazon Basics and they're fine.

I personally replaced the batteries several times to no avail. Another electronic chip is sending off signals that are interfering with the keyless/remote signals. The car has seriously been in the shop most of the time since early March. Not sure what to do if they can’t figure it out.

After approximately 3 months at the dealer, BMW replaced both remotes and all is well now. I personally think they changed the frequency of the new remotes to solve the interference issue but that is just speculation.

Good to hear, although the time it took is quite excessive. I thought we had the remote control tech figured out back in the 80s!
They may also be backlogged in service due to unavailability of parts for cars ahead of yours in queue. Mine took a while as well ( about a month) for something that was billed for a 2 day repair due to parts.
