[QUOTE=tturedraider;30561139]If you read the comments you’ll see your opinion about this new design is way in the minority on this BMW forum. If you are correct this is what buyers want, then they don’t want BMWs anymore. As many posters have commented it would appear they want KIAs and Hyundais.

I see a lot of Kias and Hyundais. So, this buying group would love to own a BMW that is at the same price point. I think it will sell very well.

Some time ago, I had a chance to drive the previous generation X2 as a loaner from my local dealer. Wouldn't buy one even if I were in the market to buy a similar car.

The new X2 is an aggregate results of multiple pressures that BMW (like any other manufacturer) is experiencing:

- Maximize profits while reducing costs
- Capture buyers who want to drive M vehicles without paying M price
- No refreshed X4 on the horizon
- Trying to stay relevant in a very competitive space

It is a mass market vehicle. And as a mass market vehicle, the sales will be most likely reasonable enough to justify its launch.

Yeah ok, so the botto line is, I'm not feeling this one.

That list seems to get longer and longer with every new model released.

I’ve had one as a loaner at least once and I have driven them numerous times at BMW driving events. If I was in the market for a fwd BMW (after hell freezes over) an X2 M35i is the one I would buy.

hmmm…which X2 sized Kia or Hyundai starts at $43,000? Or, for that matter, which any size Kia or Hyundai SUV starts at $43k?

These are going to sell faster than they can make them because they are targeted for a certain demographic that wants a BMW hatchback at this price point.

When they refreshed the X3, the muppets on the forums were spitting feathers about the rear tail lights. In the flesh it looked great, as I suspect this X2 will, when it hits the streets.

Now that you mention it. Will anyone miss the X4?

The LCI X3 taillights look like crap. In photos and in real life.

The first generation X4 had a great design and looked great. The second generation looks like a humpback whale.

If compared to any other brand from the trio, BMW is and, in my humble opinion will always be ahead by assembly quality, interior argo and feels, as well as comfort seats dept,
So even tho now most bmw are just shade of what it once was it still better driving than merc or audi and bmw just uses that against its fanbase,
Anyway ppl with money will still have top pleasure with M3 M4 M5 M6 even, 1M as well, basically any true M even X6m is greatly capable and lets be honest, if you want real rawness you gotta get E46, e30, e9x, e39 or e60 no other way around it, I would add e36/34 as well if they would not give up so fast body wise

There is something wrong with the exterior proportions but cannot put my finger on it.
Last X2 that I have received as a loaner left me almost cripled as the driver seat was very uncomfortable. I hope that it is not the case with this one for the sake of the buyers.

The Hyundai Venue is similar but at a lower price point, but people might want something a little more upmarket. Kia has many small crossovers, as well.

This one's very close to being great in my view. The tail light design and spoiler don't quite do it for me though. Front-end is awesome and interior is premium.
