That grill is comical. It doesn't look as bad when you take a pic of the car with just the front end showing but once you zoom back and you get to see the proportion of the grill with the rest of the car it just looks like a bad Photoshop job. People over at Mercedes are LOL right about now...

Alan
If the grill is so comical, then why has Mercedes used grills that have been larger for years than BMW. 🤔

Me too. This huge grill craze is bizarre from BMW and I honestly don't like the direction they are going in with it.

And yet it looks 1000x better in the Merc. Its not just about grill size, its how it flows with the rest of the design and BMW failed big time here.

The grille isn’t actually any worse than Audi or Mercedes in terms of size, the issue is it’s too far up the car, higher than the top of the lights and into the bonnet (hood)

Up to this point, I hadn't really had much of an issue with the bigger grill (i.e I was one of the few who didn't think the X7 grill was misplaced and actually thought it fit proportionally well). Yeah, it's bigger and taller than what we're used to, but with many things, it will grow on most people.

With that said, this car looks gorgeous, but the grill caught me by surprise. For the X7 it works because the vehicle is rather large and tall (sits higher off the ground and is significantly taller). A car doesn't offer as high of ground clearance nor is it as tall so the lines and proportions don't allow for as large of a grill. I'd love to see some specs and dimensions for the grill and compare that to the X7 grill.

So far this LCI 7 has been my favorite 7er since the E38 LCI.
My father used to own a E66 LCI 7er which I loved but this one topples it.

I don't like the grill still, I think everything else they did was great but honestly, I don't see a reason to buy this over the equivalent S class.

You nailed it, I believe that's BMW's approach into luxury taken form the RR

I wonder if the grill could've been an April Fool's Joke that someone at BMW came up with during the design process and now they're like, "Oh $h!t! I can't believe they approved it!"

And the rant about the grill commenced. When will people look beyond these grills?
I like the design. Looks good.

Perhaps when they aren't ridiculous looking?? Nothing wrong with people voicing how they don't like something, even if it's over and over again. That's how change occurs (well, when it doesn't sell because of said ridiculous grill more specifically).

It will be interesting to see if the grille design grows on the eye. I'm already feeling like the X5 F15 grille looks too small now that the G05 is out. At first, I wasn't a fan of the large grille. Certainly a bit more subtle than the new 7. We'll see!
