What is going on with the once great designs of BMW from the 80s/90s/early 00s! All relevance of history and trademark has gone out of the window with these hideous designs.

Is China still BMW's biggest market? I'm sure they will appreciate the new kidney grill design.

The rest of the world... not so much...

I like it, think it will look better in person and with black grills. The X5 certainly look better in the flesh than in photos.

Has anyone noticed that only a part of that Kidney grill seems to be active rather than full height (I see a small square cut out in each?)

Best photoshop courtesy of Jalopnik. Looks much better though I wish the bronze-ish trim trend would die before it started.

Enjoy the pic
Well done

and yeah that Acura beak was right up there with the Pontiac Aztec for ugliest car of the decade.

Oh yeah, Audi and Mercedes are so exciting.(!!!!!!)
They're both have the same design in their entire lineup. From A class to S class or from A3 to A8.
You are exaggerating it. If you think what you said is right, then BMW does the same. You just shot yourself in the foot.

Look at other brands, grill sizes are much bigger than BMW even compare to this LCI 7.

Went to a showroom the other day and the new X5 looks fine to me.
The current Audi and Lexus grilles were designed to be huge from the get go. I don't think Mercedes grilles look that big. I just don't think the current iteration of the kidney grilles look good at such a large size. I understand eventually they have to fit the autonomous sensors in that area and it's probably inevitable, but I think the kidney grilles are iconic enough that they could keep them proportional and the car would be recognizable as a BMW. And BMW connecting them together makes them look even less distinctive. I think they could've been on the right side of history with keeping the grilles normal sized when everyone else went supersized, but they couldn't resist.

I think eventually they can look good if they stretch them out vertically, like a more toned down version of the Vision Dynamics concept. Apparently that's what the next 4 series is going to look like, so I'm curious to see how that will turn out.

cost cutting measure. now you can swap grills between your x7 and you 7.

soon the same will go for the x5 and 5 series and then the g20 facelift will use the x3 grills.

the marketplace is corporate leases. they dont give a crap about the looks, just that its a 7 series and their business lease allowance covers it..

I think the rear end treatment is fine and freshens it up nicely, the grilles on the front are quite large, need to see it in the flesh.

This is probably what the 5 series LCI will look like, more elegant I guess but less grandiose
