Love it! It doesn't scream luxurious though so if this is meant to knock the S class off that lofty perch - not saying that is or should be the aim - it probably doesn't cut it.

Overall, I like it. A lot of the design is simply elegant. However, as I exclaimed the other thread, why does BMW feel the need to keep enlarging the size of the kidney grills. The kidney grills on this G11 look very large like they consume over 50% of the space on the front. Anyways, I have a couple of observations.
1. I hope that button next to the hazard light button below the iDrive screen is the button to activate "Sheilds" to protect against flying rocks that cause rock chips and to help prevent door dings. I had no idea that BMW was developing this technology. I hope it makes it to the next generation 5-Series as well. ![]() 2. Looks like the "Shield" feature will be optional though. 3. Seems as if BMW is in collaboration with Spiderman. They are calling him on the HUD. The new 2016 BMW G11 750i xDrive is reported to be 4610lbs. While the BMW F01 750i xDrive is 4475lbs. Either someone fudged up the numbers or this new Carbon Core Chassis Infrastructure design is BS and BMW lied to us about a greatly reduced weight for the new 7-Series just like they did when they said that the M4's weight would be equal or less than the E46 M3's. With that said, I guess so much for hoping the next generation BMW M5 will be able to drop 400lbs! Lol!

Looks great to me! Seems super-luxurious, especially for rear passengers. From a casual observer, it would seem to go nicely head to head with the new S-class.
I think the exterior is great as well. Only two weird things.. those 3-LED "fog" lights just look so bad, the 6er has them now, and bleeech. Looks very tacked-on. Second the E70 X5M wheel look very out of place. |

Am I the only one that misses Side Markers? I don't like the markers integrated in the side mirrors. Seems like BMW is steering away from the design cues that set them apart

Ugly looking thing although I do agree in that the M-Sport does look a little easier on the eye.
Still prefer the S Class though ![]() I just don't like the headlights connecting to the grill. It reminds me too much of a Honda Civic. Quote:

From my perspective they have gone back to the one sausage, three different lengths philosophy. I have the impression this model did not receive the R&D investment it would need to be a serious S-class competitor because the S-class sells more than all its competition combined annually so it's more evolutionary than revolutionary. I don't believe BMW is trying to take the crown in this arena but merely be a solid player. I bet it will be a nice car for what it is in the end.

As for this one, definitely better in these pics, and looks like M-sport would be the way to go for me. I can however, agree with you that the E38 is still by far the best 7er ever made. I love that car.

Boring.
I am sure the driving feel will be amazing but the design is horrible as expected. Interior looks like an updated version of the current 3er and boring. Again, I'm sure the technology will be amazing. The M-sport version is just little better than the normal one. Overall, just boring, looks dated already. |

The more I look, the more I like it. Even if admittedly, this is not my kind of car at all.
But I think it looks great in this pic. Certainly better than anything since the E38, which has been out of production for almost 15 years... ![]()

I like that they focused more on the interior, since that is where you spend most of your time. M-sport front and side look really good.
