Entertainment/Nav System Rebooting

I have a 2013 740 LI and the Entertainment/Nav systems keeps on rebooting every 3-5 mins. I also noticed I am unable to stream Music using my iPhone using Bluetooth even though I can make calls from the same phone.

I took it to the dealership about 2 years ago and they couldn’t figure it out so they simple said to change the entire head unit which was going to run between 3-5k USD. I passed on the offer and luckily the rebooting stopped. However, it just started again and so far I have updated the software to no avail.

I called a guy in California who says the “CIC” IDrive has gone bad and I should pull it out and ship it to him for repair. Just curious to see if any one has experienced similar problems and how did you resolve it. Many thanks in advance .

depends on what he is goign to charge you for a repair.
not sure i heard of anyone's CIC going bad, i guess possible but don't see it as a common item, might want to check ebay to see other used units and easily get it coded to your car (use facebook to search for coding members), many offer help..

Most likely a bad hard drive, but could also be a fault with the motherboard. Sometimes, other bus users that are networked to CIC can also cause this behavior.

Is a way to reset this to the original factory settings? Like a hard restart?
Having the same issue randomly.

You can reset the CIC/NBT via a scan tool like an Autel or Launch. It's the "Code" function within those scan tools, which is more of a factory reset in those tools.

Although your glitches may be associated with a failing battery, check your battery and replace + code if necessary. We see random faults come up with aged batteries, from NBT resetting randomly to blind spot faults.
