Was Brian M. your SA?

If so- stellar guy!

BMW Grapevine was a gem all together. Drove 3 hours from Austin to pick up our two cars - despite living 5 min away from BMW Austin.

Also- amazing i7!!! More pics!!

I see a bunch of past vanity plates. Is there a plan / idea for the i7?

Model S is way cheaper? Even the Plaid let alone the Long Range version.
Model S is $99k and Plaid is $119k

I don’t like the extra huge size of the bmw roundel on the trunk - it’s obnoxiously big imho.
That seems to be the tradeoff of placing the rear camera inside the black part of the BMW roundel. They had to make the roundel bigger in order to have enough ‘black part’ for the camera to fit.

There was a great WSJ talking about this recently. As luxurious as the i7 is, the EV tech is already a dinosaur compared to its peers (800V architecture in Porsche, Audi). IMHO, the 760xi will have a higher re-sale value in two years compared to i7 because as the WSJ article says battery tech is increasing at an exponential rate and supply costs are falling due to economies of scale for these batteries.

To the OP, happy to see you received your i7, definitely one of the first to get a custom ordered vehicle. Definitely jealous - mine is in production at the moment. Enjoy your vehicle in good health.
800V architecture has been on the Taycan since 2020, it is also on the Kia and Hyundai twins (EV6 amd Ioniq 5). Both companies collaborated with Rimac on it, but now Rimac is owned by Porsche, so doubt any other makes will have 800V going forward unless they license it. The only EV prices that are falling are Tesla, they ruined the used market by slashing their new prices. Everyone else is stilk getting MSRP or higher and have waiting lists to order.

I mean sure, would be awesome if more members rides were featured, from all forums in BP (1add, e90post, etc)

Otherwise content is fresh enough to keep me checking…

What’s annoying is reading posts about someone’s wack opinions without constructive feedback / suggestions. 🙄

Opinion is wack, yet you agree. I can have an opinion without the need to make a suggestion.

I’ll agree that you made some good ones and there are times where those post do get featured and are justified. No offense to OP as my original comment isn’t geared as criticism towards him nor the post in and of itself but I stand by my opinion: a couple of lines and one picture is not feature worthy and BP (throughout all of its model specific forums) has better content that should be featured.

Obviously as you are an owner of an EV, you have a basic understanding of how your vehicle works. The reason Mercedes and BMW decided to go with a 400V architecture is purely based on profit and ease of manufacturing. It is cheaper to make EV vehicles on a 400V architecture. The majority of parts and batteries all come from 3rd party suppliers and are not built on a vertically scalable platform. If you plug in at home and drive to and from work it doesn’t matter if your car is on a 400V architecture. But if you plan to take a long road trip in your vehicle 3-5 years from now, having a 400V EV is not future proof to achieve the most efficient and fastest DC fast charging experience. For me I don’t care I drive around town with my EQS and future i7. I have a ICE X7 for road trips.

With regards to your second point , Rimac is not owned by Porsche . In 2021, July 2021, VW Group (Porsche et al) and Rimac announced that they have agreed to create a joint venture called Bugatti Rimac. Parent company Rimac Group will have a 55% stake in the joint venture, while Porsche will hold a 45% stake in the company. So Porsche does not own Rimac. VW group is a huge investor and going forward you will see the high performance Porsche EVs on an 800V architecture not a 400V one.

I have a Taycan, it has the 800V architecture, so I am very familiar. You need to look more into the Rimac/Porsche deal, as it stands Porsche owns 24% of Rimac stock directly, and 45% of RimacGroup stock, Oliver Blume is also a supervisory board member of RimacGroup.

“Rimac will hold a 55 percent share in the Bugatti Rimac joint venture, while Porsche will have a 45 percent share. Porsche also holds a 24 percent share in Rimac directly. Bugatti will be brought into the joint venture by current owner Volkswagen. The shares will then be transferred to Porsche.” https://www.autoweek.com/news/green-...ke-over-rimac/

I promise I will take some better pics and post. And videos. Pics don’t do this beast enough justice. The auto door opening and screen movement and other cool animated stuff is worthy of videos for sure!

I stand corrected, thanks for that piece of knowledge. I had no idea they already had 24% prior to new group. Enjoy your Taycan and iX in good health!
