BM3 OTS E30 dyno

Got the car on the dyno today to check out the off the shelf BM3 e30 map.

Car is a 2017 M140i, manual gearbox.
Engine mods
-BCS 100 cell catted downpipe
-K&N Drop in Filter with hot climate intake duct
-NGK spark plugs gapped down to 0.022”
Fuel is ~30% ethanol mixed with 98 ron.
Tune is BM3 OTS E30 stage 2

Car has been on this dyno twice before.

Visit 1 car was completely stock including stock downpipe.
Stock: 307whp
Mission Performance Stage 2 tune: 391whp

Visit 2 was after the down pipe was installed.
MP stage 2 with DP: 401whp

Visit 3 was today
BM3 e30 tune: 426whp
Log: http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5d1ebc93ae729b16a305fe38

Runs today and visit 2 were done in 5th gear. Unfortunately the runs on visit 1 were done in 4th gear so the graphs don’t overlay nicely.
I’ve overlayed the MP stage 2 tune (98ron) for comparison.
BM3 made 25 hp more on lower boost (MP:22psi, BM3:16psi) and held power better to redline.
Happy with that.

So MP was on 93 and BM3 was E30?

Yeah you probably wouldn't be willing but would definitely be cool to see if e30 on MP would make a difference.

Happy you're happy OP
Thanks for the comparison

It's not hard to switch flashes. But probably not going to make time and pay for another dyno. I'm very happy with the whole BM3 platform.

I think a BM3 93 dyno would be good to see!

I'd love to do it but I'm probably not going to get around to it.
It's just more time and money.

Do you plan to run an E30 mixture long term? I'm curious if our cars are built to handle this or if the components in the fuel system will degrade over time from running E30.

It will be fine.

These cars are sold in Brazil which has a minimum of 25% ethanol in their fuel.

I ran E30 for a year on my N54 335 and we are running E30 on the shop's M4
No problems

Do you have any logs that you can upload from the dyno or street pulls.

That log is a stage 2 93 octane pull.

It says that but it isn't.

It's because I flashed using my phone and took the log using a laptop.
Apparently the ODB agent labels the log according the last flash it did, and the Stage 2 93 was the last one done using the laptop.

Looks pretty good. Just a big boost spike closing the throttle a bit. I wish AFRs came down sooner on these ethanol tunes.

Does the EWG not respond fast enough in the OTS tunes? My stage 2 93 logs show the same boost spike and throttle closure.

Do you know why it spikes like that or is that just how the OTS map was developed? Trying not to have throttle closure issues like that. What can I do to remedy it?

Every one i've seen does the same thing. I think PTF would have to dial back boost req in low rpms to reduce it, but that would also affect low rpm pull that everyone likes. It's a part of the struggle with having a smaller turbo, it hits peak boost quickly.

Yours just spiked really high, like 4+ over request. Mine is typically 1-2. I don't feel the throttle closure because boost just dials back a bit. Do you feel anything when driving/doing the logs?
