X5 or X7?
Hi everyone,
I am looking to purchase either the 2020 X5 or the 2020 X7 as my daily driver. Has anyone owned both models or driven both and can determine the major differences besides the size. Does one model have a more comfortable ride then the other? When doing my initial research, it seems to me the interior of the X7 looks higher end and more luxurious then the X5. Is this true? Which model would you recommend as they are both stunning in my opinion. Thanks |

In my experience the interiors are basically identical. X7 offers a couple extra options like more exclusive interior colors and I believe the LED Panoramic Sky Lounge option. Otherwise the X5's interior is identical in quality.
Can't speak to the ride of the X7 but X5 is very good. It has a shit ton of body roll compared to the E70, I'd imagine its worse on the X7.

We have actually had a few customers last month who came in to buy x5s and ended up leaving with x7s. The 2nd row captain chair set up is pretty sharp and the extra room has seemed to sway the buyers over to the x7. As far as which one is nicer well thats hard to say the x7 is a tad bit more luxurious imo but its also a little more $
best bet is to go check them both out in person. If you have any questions or would like any assistance feel free to shoot me a PM and ill get you set up with Jimmy Bach and get you dialed in with the forum pricing etc..

X7 interior is far better than the X5. Anyone who said it’s the same as the X5 probably doesn’t own one.
We traded our X5M for the X7, and at Steve Thomas BMW (shameless plug for Jimmy Bach!!) Surprisingly, for such a large vehicle, the X7 doesn’t have much body roll when optioned correctly. Probably the extra large front grill that helps balance things lol. It grows on you. Drive both and see for yourself. |

Definitely x5. More precisely - X5 M50 with performance summer tires. Cars of this weight need a v8.
Both cars are big and tall. But X5 with M suspension handles the weight much better and actually can corner. Limited slip is standard on M50. X7 - has air suspension - so it floats. It is also much bigger and cumbersome. Unless you need 3 rows - skip it. Both cars can be ordered with Full leather making the equipment and features identical. So x7 is not more luxurious - just someone did not know how to order right packages on x5. After a year of owning an X5 - it is superb car. 4 sec to 60 and extremely well composed on the road. |

Whichever vehicle you pick, I'd strongly suggest biting the bullet on the cost for the upgrade to the V8. It completely transforms the vehicle.

Honestly, I'd let your travel/hauling needs dictate this decision. Personally, I'd never opt for a larger SUV if I didn't need the space (passengers, kids, cargo, etc.). I'd say the X7 materials are perhaps slightly nicer, but to me it's minimal. Both are great vehicles, nevertheless.

I’ll agree that the X5 is nice and ultimately comes down to if one needs a larger ute. There’s a reason the X7 is their ultimate hauler flagship. I haven’t had the pleasure of doing a side by side comparison feature of both. Maybe someone with more time can. |

I will be getting the X5 45e next year and just bought a X7 40. I have already familiarized myself with the X5 when picking up the X7 and it is a very noticeable difference in materials and size....especially when you are seated in the 3rd row.

I did NOT want a third row of seats, I wanted cargo space for trips. But if you have adult sized kids or others who might be making trips with you in this car, the X5 isn't what you want. I haven’t driven an x7 but they are essentially the same car, the x7 is about 3” longer, and has better rear seating options. And you don’t need the 50i motor. Trust me. Plenty of pep with the 40i. |

I could probably learn to live with the grills on the x5 and x7 but never on the new 4 series. |
