She's thirsty.

Before I ordered my 760i, I briefly considered getting the i7 instead. After two consecutive i3S BEVs, this is our first time in several years without something “plugged in.”

I still haven’t actually driven an i7, but at the end of the day, I decided on the ICE version because I wanted to be able to road-trip the car and I just don’t feel like the infrastructure is there yet. Plus, unlike with the i7, I had driven a 760i and oh, what an engine it is!

She’s thirsty, though.

Owning an i7 and having driven a 760i for a two-hour test drive, the i7 feels like I'm piloting a space-barge affixed to rails that's packed full of coal. The 760i felt like I was piloting a far lighter and more nimble i7 that acted more like a large 5 series.

The i7's brakes make my bum pucker far more than the 760i's did during the test drive.
But after a few months, I got used to stopping 6000lbs safely ...

And yes, definitely agreed, the roadtrip charging infrastructure is not at all reliable in 2023 in the USA.

Great observations. Thank you for sharing!

I agree that for a car as HUGE as the new 7-Series [it's obnoxiously so, IMO], the 760i really doesn't drive like it. Thank god. Then I pull in my garage and am reminded that the car is the size of a small New England state.
