i did it - M70 ordered!

i signed the contract yesterday

i7 M70 in mineral white with chrome finish, black leather, grey alcantare roof

what i didn't order was the sky lounge and the comfort travel system...
i wanted the color U21 (diamond white something from the 3 series) - they insisted on the 20k extra for that so i dropped this...

delivery should be august, let's see what the system says once entered in the cue

Congrats. I’ve been waiting on the i5 M60 but is kinda disappointing so I’m starting to look at the i7 M70

update:

my i7 will start production end of july - with an expected delivery in the first half of august.

it is status 111 - predicted delivery date confirmed

Same ... scooped up an i7 xDrive60 2 weeks ago. This one was a bit of a stretch on my comfort zone $$ so M70 as much as I would have loved one, was out of the question ... would have surely led to divorce.

yes, for test drives there was only the i7 M60 available - if you mean the ICE version, no - i didn't even look at it as a 6 cylinder engine is just not acceptable - there is no v8 in europe...

In the US, the only "i" 7er is the "xDrive 60" ... we don't have an M60. It comes as a "Luxury" or "M-Sport" trim.

The i7 "M70" is the first ///M 7er we've ever received from BMW. No prior 7er stateside was ever branded as an ///M vehicle.

We can all argue whether it is really an "///M" or ///M"-lite" after it's arrival.

thanks for clarification - not only that i'm new to BMW but this generally confuses me...

indeed - i guess M7 does not work because it would me IM7 or MI7...

Lucky you! Mine is still in 111 - Order Accepted. I called Genius and they are telling me ~October production, but except it will be sooner.

indeed - i'm not sure if this has to do with it being M70 or not. the guy was very sure about the 3 month delivery for most of the cars (if i remember correctly).

let's see when it moves into production in july

as i'm on holiday i haven't bugged my dealer those days... but it's time to start asking again

the status has change to red - not changable anymore

delivery to switzerland is scheduled for the first week of august

Congrats!!! Mine is still showing end of October, but BMW genius noted it’s likely to move up once production starts this month. I’m glad since I’m once again changing the interior/exterior color. After playing around with the online configurer last night I feel in love with the Taupe Grey/Night Blue leather combo.

I guess, as a technical matter, the M760 was branded as *some* sort of "M" car. It's an odd duck for the branding, being none of (i) a "real" M, (ii) a "light" M or even (iii) an M "sport."

update: my car arrived at the dealer yesterday

here some insights:
- the car itself is a brick, nothing is really working... there is no software on it, this will have to be uploaded. also they need the keys and everything
- it was still in transport lock - only maneuvering speed, only the doors on the left open and other restrictions. they have to get the key here too...
- there was a sheet saying "special checking" that is usually only used for cars that go to the press and stuff - maybe all 7 models are checked like this?
- it's the first shipment of M70 to switzerland
- the HV battery was at 83%

pickup is planned for THIS AFTERNOON. (they said it will be 2-3 days work...)
