IDrive 8.5 demo

Some of you might’ve seen this in the other forums but thought I’d post it here as well as the i7 M70 will come with v8.5 from factory. Until I experience it in person I’m undecided… I like that changing temperature and seat/steering wheel heater etc is easier to get to but not sure that removing all the tiles is the way to go. Time will tell…

Does anyone know when (if) we will be getting an upgrade to 8.5?

According to Bmw Blog, 8.5 requires a different Head Unit, so there won‘t be any upgrade…

Someone in the X7 forum found a FAQ on BMW Germany’s website and ran it through Google Translate:

Quote:
Can I upgrade my BMW with Operating System 8 to Operating System 8.5?
Depending on the model and production date, vehicles with BMW Operating System 8 can be updated to BMW Operating System 8.5 via a remote software upgrade by equipping them with the latest head unit generation. The update is currently planned for the following BMW models: BMW 7 Series (production from 07/2022), BMW iX (production from 03/2023), BMW X5 and BMW X6 and BMW X7 (production from 04/2023 each), BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M (production from 04/2023 onwards).

I hope they retain the ability to create shortcuts. That's turned out to be quite important.
