Hi PPL, New here. 2011 740Li, a no-crank condition

I have been doing quite a bit of work on the front rt of this car, it was necessary for me to temporarily disconnect the DME totally for a short time. After reinstallation, no crank. Everything is acting exactly the same way, (warnings for certain things needing att. like the E-brake, suspension malfunction, steering sensor fault, an airbag fault, etc.) all of which was not inhibiting starting/driving. Suddenly the no crank, a lot of work is needed, certainly, but I need this on the road as it's my only ride ATM, PLS HELP

I hope you disconnected your battery whilst the DME was disconnected.

Otherwise, you may have burned your DME.

Although, it does sound like you may have a failing battery with the christmas lights you had prior to the work. Have it checked externally.

AFTER CHECKING THE BATTERY.. Find someone with a powerful diagnostic tool, ie an Autel. Have them check what is not communicating, and there lay your issue. Try clearing codes, and see what is still not communicating.

Hopefully you have a check engine light with key on ignition off. First press of the start button without foot on brake. You should also still have a check engine light when cranking, and after the car cycles the starter 15-20 seconds or so. If you don't have a check engine light, there is no communication with the DME.

Batt issue

Hi, thanks for the detailed reply. I do in fact have the CEL on the first push, EOIO. There is no attempt to engage the starter. I am trying to find a tech nearby with AUTEL, or acquire a good scanner to ck as much as I can. I am trying to get a ISTA D operating to narrow issues, but have too small of a notebook. Am stuck

After thinking about it, even after trickle charge, 4 amps 12 hrs..ends up 12.5 v, low rt? I t should be hovering at least 13v IMO..
I have tried disconnecting the the IBS from the neg terminal- no change. I will try a load test and see if this batt is any good. I may discharge it and trickle it again for different/better end result.
