Digtial Key Issues iPhone 15pro

Has anyone had issues setting up the Digital key with the iPhone 15Pro?

I had my previous iPhone setup with no issues, but can not figure out why I can't get the new one set up.

Did you delete the old key? Assuming your old phone was the master, it needs to get deleted in the car. Then the new one can be set up in the app. I have idrive 8.5 which has a "replace phone" menu item but I found that doesn't work. I had no trouble after deleting my old phone.

I did delete the old master key before trying. Still can not set it up on the 15pro.

what is showing in the car and in the app? did you delete the key from your prior phone?

rollingtaser: the iPhone just says connecting and never connects, eventually says can not set up digital key.

AlteBMW: the app says set up digital key, it lets me go through the setup process, but never connects. If I go to digital key in iDrvie, it says it needs to be setup on BMW profile.

If you haven’t already there are some things to try
1. In idrive there may be a setting under digital key to “reset system”. 2. Reboot idrive by holding down the volume button for 70 seconds. 3. Reboot your phone. There’s a sequence of button presses for that. I think it’s a quick volume up volume down then press and hold the button on the right. If alll that fails I just don’t know.

if AlteBMW's tips don't work try with another phone. then you could get a hint on where the issue is, car/phone.

if that doesn't work: tell the dealer to pair it

I was able to get it to pair finally.

I called BMW Genius- They questioned me a bit if I was the primary user of the vehicle. They had me reset iDrive and they still couldn't figure out why it was not allowing me to connect.

The genius told me to please hold she was checking some things and then my iDrive popped up a message that said your vehicle is currently being prepared for activation and to make sure my phone has an online connection- and it let me set up the Digital Key.

When the genius came back, she said she is not sure why it connected, but I am assuming she did something.
