At this price point it doesn’t really matter.

In NY 70% is the limit.
It used to be you could find an inspection station that would look the other way, but that has become much harder. The stations can be at risk if they get caught, and most don't want to risk that. So yeah, you could do a yearly uninstall/inspect/reinstall. But it isn't just the $$. Its the time and effort.

I'm actually thinking about doing 70% on the sides and rear for the extra UV protection.

I think it’s just the money.
Tint shops don’t care if you keep peeling off your tint and coming back to them ha ha.

A customer is a customer, even if it’s the same one.

It not about whether tint shop care. Its personal time that can be spent on something better than tinting every year

Look man, argue the point all you want.
If you want the tints you deal with losing 1 day a year to reinstalling them or whatever it is.

Preferable than having to ride around with the shit that’s legal in NY.

I was told this morning by the shop I have used for years that even 70 does not pass inspection in NY, so it has to be 80 or 90 to stay legal.

So basically, no tint then.

Yeah, though there is a slight increase in UV protection. If I am remembering right the restriction was asked for by police departments who did not want officers making stops unable to see into a car. Dark tinted makes them suspicious.

I understand considering their clientele, but as usual blue states punish the innocent and the guilty do whatever they want anyway.

Now, try to find me a representative, senator, or governors car that doesn’t have limo tint all the way around. Every time I saw one with the state plate they were dark as night.

Must be nice to be above the law.

They get away with it because the police know who they are and don't need to worry about what's behind the dark glass. The ones who are not pols who have dark tints here are just calling attention to themselves.
I'm not above either and when a cop stops me for too much tint, he's going to assume I am thumbing my nose at his safety -- or worse. Bad enough I have a nice BMW that draws attention. So I'm not prepared to do tint/untint/tint cycles -- dark tint would be nice but its not that important to me.

I hear you bro.
I understand.

I used to live in NY.
The cops there are feral.
It’s probably not worth it.

I love living in Idaho.
Here, the cops tell me I have a nice car and they all drive around with tints on their personal cars too.

I fuckin love Idaho.
I’m totally sympathetic to you though.
I did a ten year stint in the city and LI and you’d never get me back there, ever.

If something I said offended you then accept my apologies. I thought I was simply stating the obvious.

The reason you can’t have tints in NY is because the cops are too afraid of getting shot through tints before they can even find out who is in the car, as has happened more than once or twice in any American city.

Nothing about that was meant to be political, except for the part about the politicians who don’t follow the laws they write for the plebs.

As an American, that does offend me. It’s antithetical to everything our country is supposed to be, which is a nation of citizens governed by our peers.

I am at a loss why any of that would offend anyone, but… if it did, accept my apologies.

I’ve never been pulled over for tints. I believe it’s a secondary offense now anyway.

At the end of the day, I’m willing to take the risk. Here’s a shot from today at the car wash.

Did you tint the taillights too? This just pushed me over the fence on frozen dark grey. I’ll get this instead. It’s sapphire black right with xpel stealth? Was stek matte ever an option? Read it was a little more self healing and less orange peel. Maybe even a little clearer or shows the depth more than xpel?

Well, since you were “curious” about what others might think and posted photos for us to comment on, I have an alternate opinion.

Personally, I dislike blacked-out vehicles and this “frozen” vehicle fad. An unfinished, dark car looks like one owned by deadbeat families who can’t pay their rent, or folks too lazy or uncaring to rub a little Turtle Wax into their paint. A luxury vehicle like the a 7 Series BMW is best presented gleaming and polished with chrome accents as opposed to hidden with tint and a shined-with-a-Hershey-bar aesthetic. I wouldn’t wear a black burlap shirt under a classic tuxedo for the same slap-in-the-face reason. However, I’m evidently behind the times and after all, BMW (and others) DO sell this type of car so I presume it’s popular. Obviously, I’m going another way.

However, my opinion means little and it’s more important that YOU like it. Since you evidently do, we’re all smiling for you and happy for your enjoyment!! 😊

I LOVE it!! My 16 750 is silver and it’s beautiful. I ordered a 24 760 in black and was disappointed ordering a black car but this car needs some camouflage unfortunately. But in black it looks amazing, thanks for sharing

Updating with new custom wheels with floating center caps. I’m now 100% content with the look. Wheels are 21”. Couldn’t afford to go bigger in NYC streets and construction sites.
