2016 7 Series vs 2020 7 Series

Currently I have a fully loaded 2016 7 Series M-Sport, thinking about getting a low mile 2020 7 series M-Sport.
I love the front grill on the 2020! Any major issues with the 2020's? Feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are not many issues to begin with on G11/12 platform, and as the platform matures, the smaller quirks get ironed out as well. Generally the cars at later production of the series are more reliable.

I haven't heard of any outstanding issues with G11/12 LCI.

I had a 2017 540i xDrive and upgraded to a fully loaded 2020 750i xDrive M sport with 29k miles back in December. I had the same concerns with reliably but so far the car has been driving great without any major issues. I love the rear seat entertainment with the headrest screens, center console tablet, Bowers and Wilkins system, the sky lounge, the new drivers assistance features, and the front grill!

The check engine light did come on 2 days after I purchased the car, but it was nothing major they said the gas cap wire got tangled with the cap, most likely happened somehow when I purchased gas, which triggered the check engine light so I needed a new gas cap. The following week I also realized the rear console tablet was stuck on the “connecting” screen and wasn’t usable, which was probably already happening when I purchased the car and just didn’t notice. I took it back to the dealership and they did a software update which solved the problem.

I did purchase a bumper to bumper warranty until February 2027 for peace of mind though so I didn’t pay for any of the repairs mentioned above and was given a free loaner vehicle for the 1-2 days it was at the dealership. Since these 2 issues were fixed months ago I have not had any problems with the vehicle. The car drives sooo smoothly and was definitely worth the upgrade for me.

I upgraded from 2018 to 2022. Best choice ever.
Better look, faster car. So far I got 25000 km on it and only problem occured was the front grille binder broke due to extreme cold weather here.(-30 to 40 Celsius). The tail light stopped working once but it was fixed by the system update.
You should go for it, trust me, you won't regret it!
