Latest Date to Factory Order

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
When is the latest in the year BMW would fill a request for a factory-ordered car? I'd like to purchase a 2023 740i but do so as late in the year as possible (nobody seems to have the colors/options I want). Otherwise, I'm quite happy with what I see in this year's model, and under the bird-in-the-hand theory, don't want to be surprised with any changes in colors, options and/or price.

I realize new cars come out in the Fall so have to presume at some point they'll start making and bringing in the 2024s en masse and may decline to make "my" car. Just wondering how long I have...

Can anybody weigh in with a somewhat accurate date, or even a 2-bit opinion? Thanks. - Mike

I think there was also an earlier increase. In the past when I was ordering they were switching over from year to year production in July but that is not a gard and fast rule. When I was looking for a replacement car for the one that was totaled, in March, the only production slots the dealer could get were in May, so that was roughly two months. At this point I would think OP would be looking at a July or August slot for a '24.

Any change to the iDrive version for MY2024? I know there’s been some confusion about which cars get 9.0 vs which ones get 8.5.

7 series is the only 2023 BMW that will get iDrive 8.5 via OTA. All 2024 BMW models will get iDrive 8.5

I believe the iX1 will get the 9.0 version on some eu markets for 2024. Not the high end models for now. No OTA for any model for this change.

I7 willl get 8.5 through OTA since it has the correct hardware.
