BMW Rear Automatic Emergency Braking

Hey guys, I found a little secret in the Safety Features. Not only is there a Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) For the Front, But also the Rear. I was trying to back out of a parking lot and a car was passing that I hadn’t seen and the car Sounded a warning and slammed on the brakes. Pretty cool Secret Feature like the Kick Open/Close Trunk no one talks about. Hope this Helps! Side note: To my Knowledge there is no way to Adjust the Rear AEB Detection Range.

Are you referring to cross-traffic warning? Cross-traffic warning comes with rear warning for Driving Assistant and front+rear for Driving Assistant Plus.

As far as I know, cross-traffic warning has two stages of alerts, but no brake intervention. Maybe you have PDC emergency brake intervention enabled and that slammed the brakes when rear PDC sensors picked up a car behind you.

Yeah I have the PDC Emergency Braking thing Activated.

That's what probably initiated the automatic braking in this scenario. Good thing that it did!

Personally I have it off just because getting in and out of my driveway is a game of millimeters with obstacles. The car would just refuse to do what I ask it to do.

Have to check PDC settings on missus.
