360 Cameras - use as dash cams?

I'm about to take delivery of a 760i and wanted to get a new radar detector and came across an Escort that includes a dashcam.

Got me thinking - has BMW taken a page out of Tesla's book and enabled recording and access via Idrive 8? It's way easier to prove your innocence in a crash if you have footage and I see more and more civilians driving around with dashcams as a result.

Thanks!

Unfortunately not. You can manually record videos from all cameras but they are limited in length and it auto records in case of an accident. Surprising as “even” Mercedes offer continuous recording in at least the EQS

That’s why I installed the new ring car cam. It can do continuous front and driver recordings. It works best for me because I have ring cameras around my house and the car cam integrates into the ring app with all my other cameras.
