2017 7 Series Air Suspension

Hey guys, got a “Chassis Function Limited” Warning today. And I come to see the right rear part of the Air Suspension is Lowered completely. There’s no change in the drive or anything I have an appointment with bmw on June 5th. The strange part is when I try to air up it gives that fault. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

If you do it yourself it will cost around 500€ - (5h) - Access to the three bolts of the shock absorber is from the cab behind the rear seats under the shelf with speakers. The plastic covers behind the seats are fastened with velcro strip. I replaced it myself without dismantling the seats because I have massagers in the back section and I didn't want to disconnect and unfasten it all.

If you decide to go to a BMW dealer it's 2500€ (prox)

99% of the time it's a leak at the airbag or suspension damper valve connector

Having an Extended Warranty to the End of 2024 they said it’s free.

Take pictures of the upholstery before taking the car to the workshop to claim any damage from the workshop. If the mechanic is not a person who does not care about changing the gloves for work inside and outside, he will leave traces of dirt and scratches.
  • I highly recommend taking detailed photos

Here on the forum there are thousands of people who have been served by BMW dealers and still have damaged cars.
I am asking you to share your experience after the repair and out of pure curiosity what costs (I know you won't pay anything but I'm sure they'll tell you)

Yeah that’s perfectly fine I have no issues with sharing my Experience. I asked BMW and they said if you don’t have a warranty here are the prices:
Replacement Wheel - 500 Bucks
BMW Display Key - 900 Bucks
Air Suspension Part - 2,000 Bucks
Power Seat Switch - 300 Bucks
(These are all U.S Dollar Prices I believe the prices are affected by the Model, Year, Options and what Dealer you work with.)

Hey, sorry to revive this thread, but how is the car doing?

I'm asking because mine started the same. A few weeks and not much driving later (less than 1k km I guess), my other bags started going one by one, a few days in between. I'm currently at the third compressor (under warranty, fortunately).

Car has been fine, The Air Spring and a few other things got replaced all for free. The Air Suspension is Auto Cornering and Leveling so if you ever get a Chassis Warning it’s due to the fact that the car is not Level. The real cause was due to the fact I hit something in the road it damaged the Undertray, Exhuast, and Air Spring. It was “leveling” but it was being severely Overworked.

I would have the repairs inspected. Lowering from more than one corner can be a sign of bad valve body, loose connections in the system or significant contamination in the pneumatic system.

Compressors will keep failing until actual fault is eliminated. These compressors are not designed to run continuously and will fail quickly if operated outside of design parameters. In a properly sealed system, the compressor should run so rarely that you wont ever notice it.
