So I recently had my 730d machine polished, ceramic coated and all 4 alloys a full diamond cut refurbishment.

Car was looking absolutely mint but I noticed the fresh lacquer was going 'milky' in places on the alloys. Took it back to the body shop and the owner has offered to have them redone again as the lacquer has failed. However, he has said this is the only time he will re do them, for a couple of reasons:

1) He wouldn't be comfortable refurbing them a 3rd time (apparently the diamond cut refurbishment involved lathing off some of the surface?)

2) Because of the process he cannot guarantee the finish longer than 6 months as he claims its notoriously hard to refurbish diamond cut alloys to a reliable finish. I have no reason to doubt him.

So, I am debating cutting my losses (selling the wheels once refurbished again) and picking up an aftermarket set.

Despite owning all manner of modified hot hatches when I was younger with some pretty striking alloys, I am not really into that these days so am looking for alloy wheel recommendations that still have the OEM look to them and wouldn't look out of place on the 7, any recommendations?

I am also open to OEM alloys from other BMWs if there are some interesting options out there?

Thanks in advance.

Why not have them powder coated in a colour of your choice .You keep the OEM fitment. Depending on your car colour maybe a Graphite Grey or similar.

I am with Googsy on this. My last A8 had diamond cut face, and the lacquer failed whilst still under warranty - no scuffs, scratches or anything. Dealer had them redone, but finish did not last long before same started happening again. Powder coat, lacquer and ensure they are baked, and will be fine.

Last car we had with diamond cut face, 1998 A6, had exactly the same problem and had “corrosion” under the lacquer.

No more diamond cut for me.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have the 648M alloys and haven't seen those painted so not sure about it - does anyone have pictures of these sprayed silver?

Have seen a 7 series rolling on 818M alloys and they look amazing!! Quite tempted by that!

Nice wheel. What Brand and do you the weight compare to the OEMs?

If you're not afraid of 21", go with the G11 specific MPerformance set (650M), like these: https://www.shopbmwusa.com/product/5...1---Style-650M

I have them on my car and love them. I kept the 817M 20", which the car came on from the factory, as my winter wheels
