Your next BMW might only have heated seats for three months
Crazy ideas not worth following through!
https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/b...as-a-platform/ Your next BMW might only have heated seats for 3 months As services-based economies sweep every industry, it's time for the automotive realm to carry on. |

makes no sense. the hardware for heating is already there. what would this save them (or rather, what would it COST consumers?)?

It's more like they give you this option for free 3 months but you can also order it once you spec out your vehicle.
The idea isn't bad to have all options available and decide later to add them. |

I may or may not have a few friends and acquaintances who would probably enjoy taking a stab at it just for the shits and giggles if nothing else. Officially, they're threat analysts, security researches, etc. Unofficially, they're the ones who companies employ as a bridge/guard between the NSA / dark web malicious hackers and proper coders.
Think of it like Mike in Better Call Saul except more legal. Similar role though. Takes a hacker to beat a hacker kinda thing. Last edited by NorCalAthlete; 07-02-2020 at 12:55 PM.. |

Yeah what is bmw gonna do when no one buys their cars because of this BS? If other companies try to follow suit too i can imagine that the used car market is gonna skyrocket in value

Lots to digest in this Jalopnik article. Let's hope BMW does not implement such a knucklehead program... From the horse's mouth: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/globa...s-new-services |

Look around, and see how many monthly subscriptions you and your family have. Music (spotify etc), video (Netflix), satellite radio, shipping/shopping (Amazon Prime), etc, and happily paying for it. So the Auto guys are like "me too, me too" and want $500 a year for heated seats, concierge service, google maps, etc. They have to try it too.
Anyway, I'm glad my car needs are basic and I dont need nannies and concierges. |
