I had a 335d (E90) and I burned more oil vs 335i.

Are you talking how much engine oil is burned from the sump? I first thought you were talking about barrels of crude.

To talking about oil used to refine diesel vs gasoline. While my 335d was more efficient on a per gallon basis it actually burned a lslightly larger portion of a barrel of oil which was refined into diesel.

Regardless of peoples opinions on diesel, range, bmw style, the brand in general, etc, this is a mighty impressive feat on a single tank of fuel.

I just spent a day driving to Montreal and back from Ottawa, and a bunch of driving around while there. Probably 85% hwy driving, and got 6.2 l/100 km (38 MPG US, 46 MPG UK).

Considering the AC was blasting the whole time, and my choice of super inefficient wheels/tires (275/35-20 square, Firestone Indy 500's), I'm very happy. It gets better mileage in the winter with snow tires, which really shows how bad these tires are for efficiency, lol.

I need some LRR Michelins like Joe fitted to his 740d!

Well that escalated quickly

Its not about the mileage for me. I just don't want to leave my personal cocoon of luxury at a gas station, or worse be stuck at a charging station for a half an hour. Not even for a first class airline seat. Right now due to pent up travel demand, air travel sucks, First class lounges are overcrowded. Right now even if its a slightly longer driving time, I'd much rather take the luxo barge on the interstate.

Long range is a serious luxury feature, yet to be inculcated in EVs.

Yep my 335d and even my 1.6tdi with its long term 65mpg will be with me until uneconomical to run.

The biggest cost of any new EV is depreciation - bangeromics will always defeat that.

My towing requirement, MiL 450 mile in a day round trip and lack of usable fast EV infrastructure is the final nail for me.

The B57 suits the 7 so well, a great engine especially with mild hybrid, I get 55mpg on run and 45mpg round town not bad for 4400lb car that will do 60 in 5.7secs in complete luxury, the torque of 480ft/lb gives effortless performance.
