I was wondering if you could provide the source for this? They're doing away with the laser lights and the night vision? I can understand getting rid of that silly fragrance thing - but wowsers on those other two items.

The ambient air option was actually pretty nice and along with the fragrance also ionized the air which reduces pollen, mold spores, and bacteria.

The laser lights are an even bigger shock as all the new 8-Series offer them, so it doesn't make sense to eliminate them on the flagship sedan.

You can also spec the latest 3 series with Laserlights in the UK.

Agreed it seems odd that they would drop it on the flagship.

Unless the LCI 7 series has some new type of adaptive LED that is comparable?

That's why I asked for the source of the info. Seems outrageous they'd get rid of something which arguably will be the future of lighting technology as it filters down to lesser models, and brands.

Why would they get rid of that?

The option list difference between 5 Series and 7 Series was almost non exsitant. You have all the technology in a 3 series now that you have in a 5x more expensive flagship. Doesnt make sense to cut the equipment further

The base specs and options list will vary by market, as the in market operation is essentially an importer, and they will liaise with the factory to build specs and options suitable for that market, in order to best consume their manufacturing allocation.

With WLTP, many manufacturers are moving to packs, rather than individual options, as each and every variant has to be separately tested. Seat is a good example, where on its new ranges it has removed all options, apart from colour. You choose your engine/transmission, and then the model in the range that gives you the spec you want - no more mix and match. Marketed as making it easy for the customer, but In reality it minimises WLTP testing.

So maybe these options will just become standard?
Hope they keep the ambient air package.

My main question would be is this only for the US market or across all markets?
Because cutting the laser light would be a huge mistake. The ambient air is a nice touch too I don't understand why they would do that. Unless they're preparing the 2021 as a last model before the new 7er is out
