My wife’s Peugeot 208.

My wife recently got a 2019 Peugeot 208. Two things it does better than my 730d.

1. It has more legroom front and back. Strange considering how much smaller it is externally.

2 it rides better. You feel a lot more of the road surface in my 7. Small wheels and high profile regular tyres no doubt help.

You can buy 5 208s for one 730d.

We purchased a 2017 Peugeot 208 for our daughter after she passed her test a couple of years ago. I have driven it a number of times, and it is softly sprung as you say, however a bit bouncy - it is a 1.2cc 3-cyl Allure model in white, so 16” alloys from memory. It is not good around corners and the driving position is awful - you can’t see the dials between the wheel. Has lots of kit though, including privacy glass, Apple CarPlay, cruise, and auto wipers/headlights etc. However, the most important thing was that it was her hearts desire when she passed her test! But not any more!!

She has gotten bored of it, so we have an Audi A1 S Line on order for her, which should have been built today, so c. 3 weeks away.

Yes having to look over the steering wheel rather than through it is very strange. The new 508 is the same. In common with many French cars the biting point is also very high which makes it difficult to drive smoothly. Great packaging though. How BMW managed to create such a big car with so little leg room, at least in SWB form, is a mystery

They are all the same in SWB form, A8, XJ etc - I had to have LWB of each when our daughter was at home still just so there was some keg room, but now there is just the two of us, the SWB is fine - rear seats have been used twice. However is last 7 months I have only done 300 miles compared with my normal 7,000 miles, and that is just to keep the battery charged!

I think the easy answer to that question is, its designed to be a LWB car and they offer it in SWB in certain markets where they have to. In LWB form the 7 has class leading rear legroom.

It was the same way with my Lexus LS460. I had a 2015 SWB and then got a 2017 LWB, and the car was clearly meant to be LWB, from the exterior looks to the feel, the SWB was engineered from the LWB.
