Alpina 21 wheels
Wondering about the wheel and tire package/insurance coverage, and particularly how tough (or soft/easily bendable) the Alpina OEM 21 wheels are. Anyone with experience to know if such coverage is worth it?

It's a forged wheel so it's going to be a structurally strong wheel. It's that said, assuming you have a minor mishap, rash, or bend, it's roughly $100-150 to repair it at a local wheel repair shop. New tire will run roughy $400+/- so really depends on how much the tire / wheel package costs. If it was me, assuming the package is around. $1000, it may be worth it as I've had my wheel and tires replaced due to debris in the road and it was worth having. I've been through 4 tires too due to nails. Nice just to get it replaced and not have to worry about fixing it

I would definitely have wheel and tire for 21's. Probably will be expensive but those wheels will be expensive to replace if it comes to that, and tires expensive too. I don't know about road maintenance in your area, but potholes are often unavoidable and even if you are very diligent about keeping your tire pressure at or above recommended psi, a pothole can do lots of damage. I know from experience and I have had 19's on my current and prior 750's

I'd be inclined to do the opposite with 21's; I am not sure how repairable Alpina 21's are and there's not much to protect the wheel in a pothole situation. I just took a quick look and saw Alpina B7 21 wheels going for $900, and not sure they were new. There was one that was refurb at $1100.

I suggest you take it. I have those wheels and last year, I had to have the wheels fixed 3 times in a span of two months during the summer. The year prior, I had to have it fixed twice. NJ roads are bad and that insurance saved me. I paid a little less than $2k for 5 years which includes wheel repairs, tire replacement, PDR and windshield repair.

My local service advisor says they have replaced a number of the 21 wheels. Figure it was money well spent, and eliminates any stress/worry. |

Glad you were able to! When I spoke with the Finance guy at my dealership a few weeks back, they had stopped selling that combo insurance for Alpina and M6/M760/M8 cars exactly because of the number of claims.
