Z4M Roadster, it's the first button I click "on" after starting up the engine.

Funny to see this thread pop up again, as I decided monday to not worry about "sport" mode anymore on my commute. Traffic is just too bad. Still use it (both, the throttle responce button and transmission setting) during light traffic periods.

Typically in the i8 i keep it in comfort for the mpg and sport if i need to merge/turn onto a busy street since comfort usually launches with the electric motors. I rarely go into eco or eco pro except for really short trips or really bad traffic

When i had my e92 m3, i only pushed "power" during spirited driving and track. In the m2, I'm in either sport+ or sport almost 90% of the time. Comfort only if my wife is with me or when i get phone calls so i can hear better

I use my Sport mode to go fast and charge my battery.

If I really want to go fast I use my M+ mode.

I experimented with my previous 135i for lengths of time in all different modes. In the end, I found myself in normal D for regular driving and Manual for a bit of fun. I rarely used the sport button in Manual unless a certain type of anticipated aggressive driving situation was occurring or was about to occur.

In the Z4, I am Sport all the time and I alternate between D and M (just like at the end of my 135i ownership, I don't use the move-shifter-left automatic S mode at all). It's the first button I hit after the Start button. For some reason, I do not like the throttle response at all on the DCT in Comfort mode and the suspension softness just bothers me. I don't hate the suspension in that mode, I just prefer the car to be a bit more firm. My 135i drove like a brick, I didn't like that much after a while either. The Sport setting, to me, is a good in between feeling. Just like the 135i, I rarely used the Sport+ button in Manual unless a certain type of anticipated aggressive driving situation is occurring or about to occur.

E92 DCT ZCP:

Traffic, coffee, and/or inclement weather: D1 comfort with power off and servotronic low, no shift lights

Good roads, no traffic, and attentive/fun driving: S4 sport with power on and servotronic high, MDM enabled, and shift lights on. Sometimes I'll turn DSC off, sometimes not.

Track: S4 sport, power on, servotronic high, DSC off, shift lights on.

Only on a glass-smooth track will I use Sport+ and maybe use S5. I find that S5 and S6 shifts a bit too aggressively for most tires and road surfaces and sport+ on the dampers to be a bit too stiff for all but the smoothest tarmac.

I use Sport Mode all the time personally. I like to accelerate quickly then I usually just coast with it...which explains why I manage 8.6L/100KM on primarily city driving.

The only exception to this is when I'm dealing with heavy snow (basically never so far in my ownership tenure). In this case, I would probably use Comfort or Eco Mode simply to numb the power delivery for traction's sake.

I find driving in Sport to be ideal for city roads as our 60-70KM/H Speed Limit areas make switching from 5th to 6th in manual rather tedious. I find that in Comfort Mode, to drive properly in 6th gear I need to be going over 65KM/H, whereas I can drive comfortably in 6th in Sport Mode at approximately 60KM/H. This makes a big difference when you have traffic in front of you constantly adjusting their speed.

I'm still exploring the various modes. Once I have an idea how efficient the car can be, then I'll start playing with Sport.

Startup in the morning: Comfort through my apartment complex and up onto the bridge. I find I don't need Sport or to click the transmission into Sport mode to climb the bridge; the engine handles the incline and speed effortlessly. At the peak of the bridge, still at about 60-65, I click to EcoPro (and disable the A.S.S.) for the 5-mile cruise to my exit. At which time I go back to Comfort the rest of the way to work.

Going home in traffic: EcoPro w/out A.S.S. on the city streets and climbing the bridge, which is almost never free enough of traffic to make Comfort worth while. That mode I select when I crest the bridge and am heading down toward my exit there, and I stay with it until I'm home.

I'm looking forward to using Sport mode more on the weekends.

I always use Sport mode. I find driving in comfort has too slow of a throttle response.

I leave it in comfort until the temp gauge moves. Sport mode the rest of the time.

I find that sport plus wakes my car up, always use it when I'm merging on to the highway. Takes a second or two to get up to moving speeds and then another one to "passing speeds".

Sport plus, pretty much always. Wouldn't seem right buying a M car and driving in "efficient".

I like the sound of the second exhaust valve open but the throttle response is too sharp in sport on the m35i for cruising.

Sport mode always. Sport + when I actually am going driving for the sake of driving to eliminate the auto rev match feature.

Whats shifting gears without proper heel toe action right?

Do you have your Remus installed yet? And if so, how is the sound compared to an N55 M2 w/MPE?

I love it from the stop light, the firmer shifts. Especially when there’s someone next to you who doesn’t realize you’re in a sleeper and they’re obviously going to try to end around you......

I don’t. It was about 2 months so I cancelled the order when I heard news of the MPE coming out for the M2C. I regret cancelling though as the MPE was suppose to be released in March but we’re at mid April with no word.

As soon as the oil's up to temperature the car is in Sport or Manual mode.

Comfort mode -- Most of the time - The car defaults to this mode and in normal traffic, this is the just right.

Eco Plus mode -- Sometimes -- when I feel guilty; either because the price of gas went up or fuel bill is high on the credit card.

Sport mode -- Occasionally -- when I make my car payment or on a twisty road so I don't veer off and hit a cow in the pasture.
