Driver Profile & New Key Fob Problem

Howdy.

I cannot get my profile - I am the Primary User - to load / memorize / activate my seat, ambience, nav, media, etc. settings with my new, replacement key fob.

Original fob would correctly load 'me' when it unlocked the door.

I have been through the owner's manual repeatedly and I cannot figure out how to complete this task.

When I picked up the new fob @ BMW, the 'BMW Genius thought he did it correctly but likely the presence of my wife's fob and my phone assigned as a BMW Digital Key interfered with the settings.

My profile correctly loads when I manage profiles in the iDrive - currently the 'Guest' profile loads with the new fob when I enter the cockpit.

Thanks.

I had the exact same issue. Reached out to genius with no luck. My salesperson knows the iDrive very well so took it to him and duplicated the issue. I wish I could recall the exact sequence but he basically toggled the key settings to link to the ID and magically worked. No issues since.

I think I've got it

I think that I solved my own query above. On one of many videos about the G70, one mentioned something about placing the key fob in the phone charging cubby in front of the cup holders as you go through the settings in the BMW Profile menu.

I think that was the 'key' piece of the procedure that I was missing. I do not think this is mentioned in the owner's manual.

Genius told me that

A) All those settings are linked to your profile
B) Whatever profile was active when the current Fob/digikey "locks" the car will be retained by that Fob/digikey

This is much easier to achieve when you move all keys/digikeys far away from the vehicle except the one you are trying to program
