Trunk rattle with Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround
Hello,
I have top Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround which is very nice sound system indeed. My sound setup is "Studio" and equilized to V-shaped sound signature (almost maxed in bass and maxed in treble). Playing songs from build-in spotify app in BMW. Under almost half of available volume, with bass heavy songs, trunk is rattling so much (mostly you can hear it outside, a little inside). I found 1 source of rattle - tire inflator flap and fixed it by installing foam there. But there is more under trunk upholstery. Another one is registration plate - I need to install silencing foam under it. But this will fix a most 20% of rattle. I'm wondering if anyone having same rattle with that system. I know that it would be easy fix for sound deadning companies, but hey - I payed for sound system and car is not ready to handle it. |

Hmm, this is a new one.
I have the B&W Diamond system as well (in my 2024 i7) and have had on rare occasion set the volume to as much as 2/3rds or 66% level, amplification I consider beyond robust for my taste and enjoyment already. Even at that level I haven't heard any rattling in the trunk or elsewhere. Of course, rattling in my feeble brain is a different story. You don't specify in your post or avatar info what year G70 you own, but even if it were a 2023 that sounds awfully early to deteriorate. Anyway, I'm curious as to other replies and/or your ultimate fix. From what I've read on these forums for the good part of a year now, it seems everybody has SOMEthing that is annoying or amiss. Maybe this is just going to be your "thing"... Good luck! |

the bass rattling on the outside is unbelieveable! i complained this to BMW Switzerland to tell them that this is just cheap and sounds like some overtuned 20 years old VW golf! the rattling is definetively from the trunk area, you notice it very well when you have the correct music on |

Agree, I was shocked the first time I pumped up the volume.
I mean okay, I listen to hardtechno which probably isn't the usual 7er drivers music taste, but come on. No rattle on the inside at all tbh, but from the outside... That sounds like cheap petrol station tuning meetings from the 2000's. Again, he sound on the inside is awesome, don't get me wrong. But the noise isolation in the G11 to the outside was 1000%, and this is not an exaggeration, better. Last edited by Berliner; 02-23-2024 at 01:45 AM.. |

I have the same system I'm my car and no trunk rattle. I've had it pretty loud several times.

I don’t have any rattle inside but if the bass is pumping and I step out of the car it sounds terrible. As one said, like a cheap aftermarket boom box in a rust bucket car worth half the price of the stereo. ( I’ve had that in my teens haha)

I wasn’t able to fully rid the rattle, but it was minor originally. |

This only applies to i7 vehicle as it does not have subs under the front seats and only has one main sub in the left of the trunk.

Can't confirm the i7 theory, the OP has an M760e and I had an 760e loaner as well where the issue was extremely noticeable. It's actually not as extreme in my new i7 as it was in the M760.
I will try to fix the rattling completely somehow, as this is close to being unacceptable. Last edited by Berliner; 03-10-2024 at 04:13 PM.. |

So I have not yet reported this to dealer. I'm not sure if I want them inside my trunk trying to fix it (without SIB)
If there will be SIB released for this issue - Im willing to let them fix it according to it. |
