You still don't get it.
They're both bespoke, being M GmbH-specific conceptions and not derived from or related to any of the regular series engines.
The V10 is the only clean sheet design of the two, yes, but both S85 and S65 are bespoke M engines.

Who cares where they are derived from? The S54 isn't a bespoke M engine and I don't see anyone bashing that motor.

Bespoke means that engine was developed for that car and shares nothing else with any other car or engine. The S65 cannot make this claim. The only BMW that can is the e60. My point is that what you start from doesn't matter. Any M engine is good.

Did you even read my post? Because I don't think you're grasping the concepts correctly.
I spoke of "lazy" in regards to FI tuning.
To build an NA engine for an M-car, even when based off another (i.e., S50—> S54) is a craft in itself.

You mistake clean sheet with bespoke.
When people refer to the S85 and S65 as "bespoke", it means they share nothing with anything outside the M works.
They are exclusively [bespoke] M engines.
It was really just a one time thing that M was able to go balls out and work on a project like that. To be able to take their Formula 1 development and everything they learned from it and conceptualize a basis for two special engines. We will, perhaps, never see this from BMW again for a long time.
You're really in the minority if you think the S65 sharing pistons with the S85 qualifies as being lazy and non-bespoke.

Glorious V12 sound! The sound and smoothness of the V12 makes the reduced agility of the car worth it. Therefore I feel the M760i is a better buy versus the M5. The engine defines the very character and soul of an ///M even if it's not a "Full ///M" and this M760i has a bespoke soul that is hard to find in other BMW's these days.
I would be keen to see an M860i coupe of even the M8 with the V12 but we all know it will just be the S63tu4.

Damn son... if this ever reached our shore it will definitely goina cost a bomb. Say £300k. And only rich elites will have it. Common man can only have 740Le here. Sole variant after BMW decided to drop 740Li.

Nope. No Mary this time. There is a chauffeur however. First 60 seconds is worth a watch for sure. I like his reviews.

My bad too I don't even know the guy's name. I thought you were referring to the dog he has in the car sometimes.

I drove one on a short track during a driving class at the performance driving center. It's an amazing car for what it is. It is very fast and smooth. It also handles exceptionally well for being so long and heavy. I found myself going "I can't believe I'm doing this in this car" and "I can't believe the car is responding so well." It's so smooth and insulated that you are isolated a lot from what's really going on around you, but it has to be. It's not a track car, but it is a limo begging for a car chase scene in a movie. My final thoughts were "this car is awesome, but who would really buy it?"
