The car looks very similar to the one James Garner 'drove' in the film Grand Prix.(1966)

Yes it's still something that makes my blood boil when I watch it and the 'special relationship' that Prost had with Balestre.

I did some digging and the only information I found was that it was the "new" for then McLaren M2B. It appears though that a lot of people do consider the car that he drive to be the same one pictured above.

Tell Max not to drive it too hard though they are more delicate than the race cars of now.

I know this isnt from Suzuka, but a fitting time to post considering this race is in Japan. I remember watching this tussle all those years ago, very exciting to watch!

The movie, "Grand Prix", used mostly Formula 3 cars mocked up to look like (in particular) the iconic BRM 261 (photo below). The McLaren 2B was painted white to look like the fictitious Yamura (from Wikipedia).
By the way, the Honda RA272's 1.5l V12 was mounted transversely. It had quite the scream.

The F1 focus on the driver battle between Hunt and Lauda is re-lived in the movie Rush....released in 2013:

It's ok but it can't hold a candle to the John Frankenheimer film.

Small update from F1 on the effects of the typhoon:

Quote:
Space on the schedule to potentially move sessions around has already been created by the supporting Japanese Formula 4 round, which was a non-Championship race, being confirmed as cancelled.

In addition to the scheduling concerns, the location of the support race paddock at 130r, is on low ground and is at risk of flooding.

A decision on whether to move Formula 1 qualifying to Sunday morning in Japan will be made on Friday.
I do hope they make a decision on Friday regarding when to run qualifying. It would benefit the fans at the track and those watching by being able to plan accordingly.

Max could possibly fix that Honda badged racer himself with it's straight forward mechanicals if it started playing up unlike the complex RB.

Charles has said everything is clear now with regards to team orders as before it was clear that it was not clear. We'll see if he can keep up with Seb this time at the start to keep it clear

From what we/I saw and heard , it was/is really clear what Charles intended ..
I'm pretty sure the Ferrari-team is still like a nest of rattlesnakes !
In short...I love Sebastian . And I don't trust Charles anymore...

So, Earlier....We were talking about rain . Here's a reminder from a race in the rain !

It was the year 1998 @ *Spa-Francorchamps* and the 5H1T was real !

It was the event that David Coulthard was largely to blame spearing into the wall at the start them coming across the track causing mayhem with other cars having multiple impacts. Then in the restarted race Coulthard accepted the blame for going too slowly and Schumi hitting him from behind sending the German into a rage trying to grab Coulthard in the pits.

I think history has come full circle. Back in his RedBull days, it was Seb who couldn't be trusted. Remember Mutli 21?

Granted, he's matured a lot since those days but Charles is the new guy in the team, young, and does t want to fall into a second fiddle role. He doesn't want to be in a similar role as Bottas is in.

In other news, marshals and emergency crews practiced an injured driver extraction from a live car today (they used Seb's car) and it took them over 10 minutes to finish the job. IMO that's a long time to get a driver out 🤔
