Exclamation Another N63 problem (Coolant leak)

Hello,

I have an F04 with the lovely N63 engine!
The car is leaking coolant quite badly. I got my mechanic to pressure the coolant system and it was leaking very badly. Had to put out a bucket.
Either way he said that it comes from the back of the engine on the passenger side. Is there any known leaks from that area? It drips down the transmission, but only on the right side.
Any ideas?

I had a leak on my G12. Turned out to be the coolant hose.

Could it be where the coolant hoses attach to the charge - air cooler on the right, and then trickling down back a the ‘V’... ?

Since there are TWO set-ups...LHD (left hand drive) and RHD (right hand drive)...when you only say "passenger side" and don't distinctly indicate if your car is LHD or RHD...it is totally UNCLEAR if you're referring to the left or right side of the car.

Just something to remember...always use "left" and "right"...then even if we don't know if your car is LHD or RHD...we can at least assume that you're using the normal indication that "left & right" is from the perspective of sitting behind the steering wheel.

It's probably the T Connector beneath the alternator. It's made of plastic that becomes hard and brittle over time. Major coolant loss out of that when the Tee breaks. Cheap part to replace, but you have to strip most everything off to get to it.

My 09 7 is sitting right now do to a major coolant leak. Dealership wants 1900 bucks to fix main seal. They did not break it down but just put car on lift to see where leak was coming from. Makes me wonder if this T connector is all that's wrong. I wish I knew what the part number is.

I have a F02 Alpina (LHD) with a small coolant leak coming from somewhere not visible as well. Leaves a puddle on pax side when sitting then stops. Had it up on rack and cannot see where it is coming from. There is no room to work on these things! I have pretty advanced BMW mech skills and a lift but would like some input as well.

stone7 when you say strip most everything off - what do you mean? Intercoolers, etc?
