750 X-Drive in the Snow

For all those wondering and maybe scared to try; with the right tires, the G12 is an absolute BEAST in deep snow. Just make sure to turn off your traction control and you'll make it through anything that comes your way. I was literally blasting down unplowed streets with snow coming over the hood. I've got Pirelli SottoZero's on mine and it makes a world of difference.

We had an unexpected snow here this week and I got caught at work with the B7. About 4-5 inches by the time I left work to head home. I was initially a bit anxious but the car was brilliant in the snow. Very pleased other than getting snow on the car, which I loathe.

I would echo the same. I've got Pirelli SottoZero's and they do great.

You are right, they are great when wearing the right shoes... Stuck with summer tires on by B7 in a snow and it did not go well but with even all seasons it does well

There was a small penalty I had to pay for using the 750 as a snow plow... The plastic undercarriage protection plate was cracked and ripped off in several places. Car is currently in the shop getting repaired to the tune of $800.

Maybe I shouldn't have been bombing down unplowed alleys doing 40mph?

Oh well, it was fun as heck and I've got a 2021 X5 as a loaner for the next few days. Hard to complain.

We had a snowstorm and with the standard run-flat tires the car was not confidence inspiring on slippery surface. I attribute this to OEM all season tires. It got the job done and moved easily just did not feel confident in the traction levels.

Yeah, there's really no match for a dedicated snow tire. There used to be a trade off with dry weather performance, but the SottoZeros are really great on dry pavement as well. The only noticeable difference is they are a bit louder, but barely audible.

Anyone got any advice re winter tyre sizes?
My friend has a set of 275/40R20 and 245/45R20 on his X4.

He's considering a 730 and wants to know if these would fit.

Appreciate they're both taller than stock and understand x-drive is tyre sensitive - but would appreciate any real world experiences 👍

So much more fun with the traction control off.
