BMW 760 advice

Thinking of picking up a 2020 760i.

Two quick questions please:

1. Does the M760i have squeaky brakes? I currently have an M5 Competition and the brakes sound like an old school bus.

2. Do they make a short wheelbase (I) version as well as a long wheel base (Li) model?

Also, and feedback on the overall driving experience would be great as I’m not looking for a car with stuff suspension.

Thanks in advance.

You'll find most vehicles with performance brakes will squeak from time to time. On all my cars I'd take it to the dealer and they'd clean the brakes/calipers and I'd say for the most part the squeaking went away for the majority of my ownership. It seems to always be with the Brembo brakes which comes on out cars.

On the 760, I don't believe that it's an issue. The ride is very comfortable, floaty in comfort and gets slightly tighter in sport. It's a very comfortable ride in all mods. It's amazing how it absorbs the road and maintains comfort while driving. I'd drive 100mph on roads I wouldn't dare drive 60mph in my M5. The power on the 760 is nice.

In the US we only have the G12 (longer wheelbase). G11s only exist over seas. I heard they plan to bring it back.

Personally, I'd recommend going with a loaded 750i and add DINAN or a tune to get the power levels. The depreciation on the 760 is ginormous and they don't lease well. I'd even recommend the Alpina B7 which is lighter and slightly quicker than the 760.

I'd say go test drive one. As must as I love the G12, I greatly miss the handling and suspension of the M5. I enjoy taking corners hard and fast.

I leased a 760 with $175k msrp for $0 down, $1800 month. 36 months, 36000 miles. Seemed like a reasonable lease deal to me.

I'm coming from two 750 (F01 and G12) prior to the current 760. So personally I have to say I'd take a 760 over 750 again. The power delivery and sound is addictive. When a v8 had to be wound up to deliver similar performance levels, the 760 is just effortless any moment. To me the 760 is perceived very differently, and I really like it.
I am not noticing any break squeaks. I think the breaks on the 760 are the same as on my wife's 850i I also drive from time to time. No squeaks either so far.
So to sum up the driving experience, I'd say I did not expect it to be much different from a 750 but it is. I came to realize that stepping up to the 760 elevated the 7 series platform experience for me: everything about the vehicle finally came together. I did not need to hunt for all the packages I wanted, it comes with all the essential and nice to have items especially the active steering, rear wheel steering, executive drive pro. The suspension calibration is actually different from the 750 and is more refined. So as the overall package they did make it a bit a better vehicle than the already excellent 750.
I did not go for the Alpina trim as I actually liked the 760 overall better. It is more effortless, practically as quick but very composed, balanced vehicle. How do you put it in culinary terms: a bit less spicy, but more complex rich taste. Anyone would be happy with either one I think.

That's a good deal, I did see that towards end of the year last year but most dealers quoted $2,400.

That is an incredible deal.

I got one for 7500 miles a year, same MSRP, first month down, $1999. How'd you get such a crazy deal?

Would you be willing to post your contract, with private info redacted of course? 12000 miles would have been $2300 per month or so here in nyc.

Have a 2018 B7 and a 2020 760i currently, previously had a 2018 750i... To some degree it's personal preference with respect to the B7 and 760i as they are both very nice cars, stock I would take the B7 in terms of power however I have a G Power tune on the 760i and can say it's my favorite... As said earlier in this thread it is comfortable, and yet still holds the corners, it's not clear cut as I still drive them both but if I had to choose one it would be the 760i...

Traded my 2019 M5 Competition (squeaky brakes were driving me crazy). I typically buy a new car every 12 months or so, the 760i is in my opinion the best balance between luxury and sport.

The car drives as good if not better than my previous S Class, quiet and subtle but with a bit of fun sprinkled in when you put the car in sport mode. Fit and finish is impeccable both the interior and exterior create a sense of presence along with the sheer mass of the car.

So far so good but I picked the car up this morning.

Mine is a 2019 though that I ordered late summer 2018 and purchased in December 2018. So different incentives 1.5 years ago for sure than a 2020 model today, but maybe not? Just recalled I have a 10,000 mile year lease. I had always done 12000 mile a year leases my entire life, but when i ran the numbers this time the difference in lease payment of $50 month seemed to indicate just pay the mileage penalty if I go over, instead of prepaying it. And i am under mileage now with no driving during covid. I will dig up the lease contract but don't know how to post documents really? But private message me and i am sure i could email it. Or i could post mf, residual, cap cost, etc here.

Been looking too. What dealer did you buy from?

The 2020 M760xi is long wheel base only in the USA. No noise at all from the brakes, even when pushing them.

The ride is only stiff when setting the suspension in the sport setting, but you can still personalize the trans & steering. After about 300 miles the trans adapts to your driving style, so I would suggest getting the Sprint Booster $300. I'll have to get the part #. If you're a real driver, then the Sprint Booster is a must...I've taken my car to the dealership 4 time after the first 500 miles for the complaint that it feels lazy. The issues is that once the trans adapt to your driving, it also relaxes the throttle speed & this is where the Sprint Booster comes into play.

Going from M5 to M760xi will be a big difference in how the car feels when driving. But I'm always suppressed at the grip the car has with all the weight it carries.

2020 was reported to be last year for 760 and V12. It is absent from the online configurator for 2021. There may be some out there on dealer lots, so good deals might be out there too, but it will take effort to find one. I have also seen some 760 BMW ads, for 2022, so maybe they just stopped for a year?

I currently have 2020 M760xi:

1. M760i doesn't have squeaky brakes?

2. In the USA, only long wheelbase models (M760xi).

If you're looking to have more power, try the Noelle Performance tune. I know that they will honor BMWs drivetrain warranty. I just put 2000 miles on it with the tune (hard interstate driving) 760hp/800 ft-lb.

Seen 2022 for sale at Zeigler locally too. Also, just wanted to point it that I think its ridiculous that the 760 doesn't come standard with the upgraded B&W stereo. That's one thing that I feel Tesla gets right and the legacy companies don't appreciate enough.
