Wireless charging LCI vs pre LCI

If anyone has had both the pre LCI G12 and now a 2020, can you comment on the different wireless charging systems? Pre had a pocket in the center armrest compartment and LCI, if I am reading things right, has a tray in front of the cupholders. I had no problem with the hidden pocket - it kept the phone away from my reach so there was no ability to look at it while driving (safer but less convenient than the tray). In terms of efficiency of charging is there any difference? TIA

The new ‘tray’ you mention sounds like what’s in the new Z4. I haven’t seen a 2020 7-series yet.

But I’ve been following the G29 threads for sometime...and see mention of overheating with it by some, so not perfected I’d guess. I’d also guess it has a bit more charging power but haven’t seen the actual specs compared.

I wish I had the tray in the front console instead of the center console, I end up not using it much.

I wonder if you can retrofit that tray in there.

There is an aftermarket solution. It does not give you the connection to the car's antenna -- just charging. I have not seen it, don't know what is involved in installing it, and of course cannot comment on how it works. However, I am thinking of it for the G1 I am getting next week.

Don't be put off by the title. This company is doing them for several different BMWs.

Interesting seems to take up a lot of space though lol! I have a matt at home that does Qi charging and its a 10th of that size.

I bought one, see how it works.

I would love to get an OEM one though.
